Cryptic Studios Forum Usage Guidelines
Your use of the forums (“Forums”) provided by Cryptic Studios, Inc. (“Cryptic Studios”) constitutes your agreement to these usage guidelines (“Usage Guidelines”), which apply to all posts, profile information, avatars, signatures, and any other content on this site as well as your use of the Forums, including, without limitation, the private messages that you send via this site, which Cryptic Studios staff has the ability to read.
Limitation Of Liability Please understand that: (a) members of the community contribute to the content of these Forums; (b) Cryptic Studios does not control the content that is posted on the Forums and is not responsible for such content; and (c) Cryptic Studios does not in any way guarantee the truthfulness, accuracy, legality or completeness of any such content. You expressly agree that you bear all risks associated with such content and that Cryptic Studios is not liable in any way for such content, for any errors or omissions, or for any losses or damages incurred as a result of accessing or using such content. These Usage Guidelines are in addition to, and not en lieu of, the terms and conditions contained in the Cryptic Studios vBulletin Infraction System, Cryptic Studios Community Policy, Cryptic Studios Terms of Service and the Cryptic Studios Privacy Policy. Cryptic Studios reserves the right to change or modify its policies at any time for any reason. Reporting Violations If you believe that someone has violated our Usage Guidelines or you have spotted content that may otherwise require attention, please use the Report Post button with a brief description of what you believe is wrong. Notification is voluntary and anonymous, but in no case should a user respond to a situation personally, thereby aggravating the situation further. Report violations, do not quote them or reply to them. Responding to a violation in an inflammatory manner is a violation in itself and will result in appropriate action. It is also important to not abuse the Report Post function by excessively reporting posts. Enforcement Any content that violates our Usage Guidelines will be removed within a reasonable period of time after Cryptic Studios becomes aware of it. Interpretation and enforcement of the Usage Guidelines is at the sole and exclusive discretion of the Cryptic Studios. If you violate these Usage Guidelines and/or show a disregard for them, Cryptic Studios and/or our community, your account may be suspended or terminated. Cryptic Studios may, but is not obligated to, edit or remove any content without notice or appeal. These Usage Guidelines are subject to change at any time without notice. Guidelines You agree to strictly adhere to the following guidelines (“Guidelines”) in connection with your use of the Forums. 1. Cross-posting is not allowed and will result in the removal of one or more posts. Cross-posting is defined as posting the same information in two or more locations. When posting your topic, please try to post it in the most appropriate place within the organizational structure of our community. Identical topics posted in the same or different forums will be removed. 2. Attempts to artificially increase your post count are prohibited. This includes the mass creation of short or meaningless posts. 3. Advertisements are not allowed. Generally speaking, posts made specifically for the promotion of a website, product and/or service are considered advertising. Additionally, posts that unnecessarily send people to a website with which you are in some way affiliated also may be considered advertisements. It does not matter if such website is a commercial website, personal website or non-profit website. 4. All signature links must be kept in your signature in your profile. Posting excessive links to websites and/or using "sneaky" advertising methods are violations of these Guidelines. You only may post a link to another website if (a) you are authorized to post such link, (b) such link specifically answers the question that is being asked and (c) the answer cannot be simply posted without the link. You must link directly to the page where the information can be found. General and unnecessary links will be tagged as advertising. If you excessively post links to your site (or you appear to be seeking out threads where your link may be relevant, so that you can post it), you may lose the ability to post links to your site. 5. You are not allowed to post an affiliate URL that leads to you earning cash, banner impressions, credits, points and/or any other form of consideration. Such links are also not allowed in signatures and profiles, and may not be referred to in posts. 6. You are not allowed to post personal, real-life information such as home addresses, home phone numbers belonging to any person, including, without limitation, yourself. 7. As this is an English-speaking community, all postings must be in English, so that they can be well received and properly monitored. 8. You may not use vulgar, harmful, harassing, fraudulent, threatening, abusive, libelous, defamatory, obscene, hateful, sexually explicit, racially/ethnically charged or otherwise objectionable language. Abbreviations, self censoring, and attempts to circumvent our censure software also violate these Guidelines. If your post contains a word that is censored by our software, you must remove that word or the post will be removed. If you feel that the software censor is acting in error, please contact us. 9. When mentioning, referring and/or linking to other websites, you must ensure that the content of the mention, reference and/or link is appropriate for our community and in line with these Guidelines. If you mention, refer to and/or post a link and such mention, reference and/or posting is automatically censored, it is considered to be inappropriate and you should remove it from your post immediately. 10. Posts that discuss illegal activities, transactions, or websites such as warez, cracks, torrents, etc. will be removed. This includes the posting of information that you have obtained illegally and/or without authorization or permission. 11. Political and religious discussions are not allowed on this website. If it is believed that the end result of a discussion will be political or religious, the post may be removed. Likewise, strong political and religious sentiments should be kept out of profiles, signatures, and other content in these Forums. 12. Do not post trademarked and/or copyrighted materials (e.g., articles, videos, photos, audio, etc.) that you do not have permission to reproduce, distribute, display, perform, create derivative works of and/or otherwise use. Posting the entire article, even with the source, constitutes copyright infringement. This is not the place to illegally trade or distribute copyrighted (or those with questionable copyright status) video or audio clips. 13. When posting and linking to images, videos, files, etc., please refrain from hotlinking. “Hotlinking” is the direct linking to images (.jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png, etc.), video (.avi, .mov, .mpg, .mpeg, .wmv, etc.), audio (.mp3, .wav, etc.), archives (.zip, .rar, etc.) or otherwise downloadable or streamable files, on servers that you do not have permission to link to, instead of linking to the page where the item can be found. “Hotlinking” includes, without limitation, providing a direct link to the file, even if that file is not embedded into your post. Hotlinking costs the server owner money and resources. 14. Respect is the name of the game. You must respect your fellow members and refrain from inflammatory comments as well as flaming, taunting, and general disrespect. Do not simply put down the opinion or advice given by others. If you don't agree with it, say why - respectfully. Don't just tell them they're wrong. Do not make uninvited remarks about typos, duplicate posts, posting styles, etc. 15. When an opinion-based discussion is being had, do not state things like "there is no argument" as if your opinion is the only one or the only one that matters. When someone has clearly stated their opinion, do not say things like "Are you serious?" and "Are you kidding me?" Remember, this is not a debate club. This is a friendly discussion community. Allow people to have their opinion. No one is to act as some sort of opinion judge, responding to each one to say whether they agree with it or not or whether or not it is a valid, well thought out opinion. 16. Signatures are limited to five lines of text, including blank lines, or an image that must be no larger than 500x150 pixels and 50Kb in size. Images must be in .jpg or .gif format. No animated .gif’s will be allowed. The text in the signature may be customized by the BBCode in use on the forums. It is recommended that you stick with readable fonts and colors and that the size is not too large. You may mention websites and ventures that you are in some way related to, as long as they are otherwise appropriate for this community. Focus on things that you like, not things that you don't. 17. Each user is allowed to create one account. Automated account creation, participation, and content scraping is not permitted. 18. We know that people will have to leave our community (of their own free will or otherwise) from time to time and to that end, we generally do not delete accounts, posts, or other content posted on our community. You hereby grant Cryptic Studios and our designees a worldwide, non-exclusive, sublicenseable (through multiple tiers), assignable, royalty-free, fully paid-up, perpetual, irrevocable right to use, reproduce, distribute (through multiple tiers), create derivative works of, publicly perform, publicly display and license, digitally perform, make, have made, sell, offer for sale and import any and all of your postings in any media now known or hereafter developed, for any purpose whatsoever, commercial or otherwise, without compensation to you. None of your postings will be subject to any obligation, whether of confidentiality, attribution or otherwise, on our part and we will not be liable for any use or disclosure thereof. All of your postings are granted to us with perpetual electronic publishing rights because any content posted on this community becomes a part of the community, even if you no longer are. You may request an item to be removed at any time, but we will decide when and if to remove content from our community. If you wish to no longer be identified with our community, we will be glad to close your account and alter your profile information to remove all identifying characteristics. After account closure, you will no longer be able to participate in this community and this action is not reversible. 19. Cryptic Studios has the final say on all aspects of these Forums. If you have a problem, you may make a complaint to Cryptic Studios directly and not publicly on the website. Creating threads or posts that question or reference administrative decisions or potential administrative decisions, such as post removals and thread closures, is not permitted. If you feel that we have made a mistake, please privately contact a Cryptic Studios and we will review the situation. 20. Whenever you are participating in this community, please keep in mind that we strive to create a fun, friendly and inviting atmosphere. We hope you have fun and enjoy the Forums! Thank you for visiting the Cryptic Studios Forums. |
