On behalf of everyone here at Cryptic, I'd like to welcome everyone to Champions Online!

No matter how you heard about Champions Online, we're thrilled that you've joined our community. And we hope you all make yourselves at home and stay with us. We're looking forward to getting to know all of you.

A couple of tips to improve your forum experience:

1. The search tool is your friend. There will be a wide range of topics and posts just waiting for your contribution, and there’s a chance that someone has already started a discussion about what you’re interested in.

2. Be sure to check out the developers’ posts! Threads that a developer has posted in will be clearly marked, and we’ll be adding an index of dev posts soon.

3. Please read the forum guidelines (http://forums.champions-online.com/announcement.php?f=2). No seriously, check them out – they’re there for a reason. If you find a lot of your posts disappearing or being moved elsewhere, please re-read the guidelines. Foxbat has been itching to try out his new Noogie-O-Matic, and you don’t want to be his first test subject.

4. We’re here for you! Ask questions, offer suggestions, and give us your feedback. We love hearing from you!

Once again, welcome to the forums. We’re happy that you’re here.

Hi, my name is Daniel and i am a full- time student at Devry University studying to be a game programmer. My first question i would like to ask is how long did it take to get this far on Champions Online? In some of my classes me and my fellow students have trouble getting to somthing at this level. I fully understand that a game can fail even in the first stages of its development. So i guess the real question is how do you keep everything/ everyone together?

Hey man I don't have your answerrs but I am also a Devry Online student for the Game Simulation Programing! Small world!

4 Year vet of CoX and I must say Cryptic this new game looks really good. I have never played the PnP game but I think out of all of em this it the one I would want to play. Looking forward to how this turns out.

As a former Beta Tester for both CoH and CoV and a 45 month (and counting) Veteran of both, I would like to say hello and I am excited to see Crytpic create another Superhero game. When I read that Marvel Online had been cancelled I was bummed out as I was excited to see what the Devs would come up with next.

Though I have never played the pen-n-paper version of Champions, I like what I see so far from this website. I look forward to seeing more as time goes on.

I was amazed and ecstatic when I read the news in Game Informer. I've been a player of Hero games, off and on, since I was 15, 25 years ago, and am excited to see a MMO built on that world.
As a member of closed beta for City of Heroes and City of Villains and a current subscriber of the game, I have to say I am pleased that Cryptic picked the Champions world and it's characters as the basis of their next game. Thank you and I hope you do a good job, and good luck to you all.

And all the same goes for me. Read about this on the CoH forums and decided to check it out and see if Cryptic can make an improved CoH/CoV.

Hi Sheline!

Same for me, read about it on the Coh/Cov forum and wanted to check it out.
Like you, I am an old timer, have been in coh since day one (not the beta though).
This new game seems promising. Hope to meet you there as well!

I was a member on the old Hero forums but never posted much. Then my SG on CoH posted a link here, so I have come to explore the Champions Universe again in a new medium!

I am also a 45 month veteran at CoH/V, and beta tested both. Still majorly active in the RP community on Virtue, and Champions was my RPG of choice for over ten years, although these days I prefer M&M [I hope that isn't a curse word around here]. The screens look great, and so does the list of game features, I'm hopeful [and expecting] that jack and the Cryptic team can pull it off.

I'm not one of those guys who hates Jack for his 'balence vision' or blames him for ED, I believe they were neccessary, hard calls that he made, that had to be made, and they made CoH/V a better game for it.

Good day everyone,

I saw this annoucement on the CoH forum and decided to boogie on over and get in on the fun early. I don't really have much Champions experience but am aware of it's ong history and I think this is an IP that could really drive a new Super Hero MMO. I'm looking forward to learning more about the Champions Universe and this game.

See you all around,

Sweet! I just got my GI and am excited to hear the great news. I never played CoH because my computer was not up to par with the specs but I even have the special guides for CoH and Cov. I am excited to hear about this game.

I cannot wait to hear all the features on this game but the customization including you background, story and creating your arch-enemy is amazing. I have been writing and working on some thoughts here and there about my character in a comic book but this will be fantastic.

I am loving the cel shade!!! I love it. One thing I hope you include is a video recording option like on Halo and Tony Hawk's Proving Ground. Please you must! Ok well let me not push it but I can tell you right now that every single soul out there interested in this game woud like that feature. Should I say pretty please?

Keep up the great work and can we expect this in 2008?

ps. I'm glad Marvel Online didn't work out since it would be so limited...

I was so excited when I heard about this game. I'm glad that MUO got dropped and that their able to use Champions instead. I don't really know anything about Champions but I think it'll give a lot more freedom then if they had been stuck in the Marvel universe.

Anyways, I did have one question. How long has this game been in development? If it's due out in '09 like I've read then it has to have been in development for a while already.

I heard about the game from the Game Informer issue and then got online for more info as soon as I could.

I've been a subscriber of CoX since the beginning but my account isn't active right now since I don't really have the money to put forth the subscription fee. After looking at Champions though I think I'm going to reactivate so I can work out some ideas and later on I'll be able to get an idea of how the games compare.

I'm a 17 year old high school student who's graduating in May. I'll also be enrolled in college as a Psych major once Fall rolls around.

Greetings! I am a long-time Champions player and an MMO player of over a year on CoH/CoV. When I first saw the posts about Champs online I almost cried tears of joy.

From looking at some of the screenshots the art looks a little comic-bookish. Is this accurate or simply early stages?

Not saying that it was good or bad (not enough to tell yet) but it looked very much like a comic come to life.

Words cannot express how excited I am about this project. It how holds a coveted place at the top of my shortcuts list.

If you ever need any help with playtesting, concepts or Champs RPG veterans please feel free to contact me.

I'm another long-time Champions player and some-time GM, and I am soooooooo excited about this project.

I think it will be very interesting to see how Cryptic handles the Champions content. In the pencil-n-paper RPG (especially early on) there are numerous characters, organizations, settings, and events that pay homage to established comics, including Marvel comics. Cryptic will be in an interesting balancing act with characters like the incredible, hulking Grond, for example. :D

Anyway, as I said: I'm super excited about this. It's going to make a fantastic game.

even though I was impressed with COH as a beta tester. I was still unsatisfied with the game play. Simply because I was hoping for what champions on-line is all about, no typical generes on heros full customization and gameplay just likle the rpg. Its a bout time and I cant wait till final release ..... .... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a 45 month vet of CoX and I really love that game. It was my very first MMO and it holds a lot of special memories for me. But being the sucker that I am for superheroes, I'm really excited to see how Cryptic handles their second go at the genre. I don't know much about Champions, although I was introduced to it by Jack Emmert on the CoH boards when asking about superhero RPG systems, but I never got around to really checking it out. However, what I see here so far really builds up a sense of anticipation for me. I have faith that the experience the Cryptic guys and gals have now will really pay off with this project. Good luck!

Sweet...This is what I wanted out of CoH. However, they took their huge set of powers and mechanics and began simplifying it to the point that it quickly grew to boredom.

They took away my Density Manipulation power!

Nothing like being a 3' tall humanoid that weighs 60 tons.

I've been a player of the Hero System since it first incarnation. Other than running Hero and Champions games, I've also ran Fantasy Hero campaigns of the same system.

I really enjoyed the character generation; it wasn't for everyone, but with me their to help them put their imagination down to numbers they grew to love Champions with me.

Some of my favorite characters: Warlord...not much of a brick, but a 30 Body made him the veritble Bruce Willis that can take a ****** beating but still come back to save the day at the last moment.

And there was Imp; who's multiple armor penetration and multiple no normal defense attack was sure to always do 1 Body in damage, no more. Annoying as hell, but fun to play.

This looks exactly like the sort of thing I had hoped CoH would be. After playing Champions with my friends for years, the limitations of CoH really started to bug me. Champs Online so far looks like it takes all the good stuff from CoH and makes it even better, while simultaneously giving us the versatility of Champions RPG. Looking forward to this a lot.

I am an old school pnp Champions player, as well as an on and off again CoH/CoV player for the past 3.5 years (I missed out on the CoH beta, but spent more time in the CoV beta than I cared to admit at times.) This is the dream I had hoped that CoX would become, and while there were some changes made too the CoX games that I felt were very tough to make, I do respect Jack and the rest of the Cryptic team for making them.
Now if they would just open up some beta slots, ;)

I played CoX for a while, but wound up leaving due to a lack of end-game content. I left shortly after the invention system was introduced, though, and apparently a lot has changed since then, so I might check it out again.

Regardless, I'm definitely looking forward to this. The gameplay sounds interesting, and it'll be good to have Cryptic taking another go at a superhero MMO since they have the experience of CoX.

OMG! I am so excited to see this. I have been a loyal City of Heroes/VIllains Player since July of 2004 and though I love the game still, this gives me high hopes. I too was a big Champions pen & paper fan (as well as MSH so sue me . . . oh wait :D ) and an so pleased to see that the former Statesman Jack Emmert is at the helm here. My main character in CoX is High Beam and was based very much on the energy projector toon I played in Champions (name was different).

The screenies I have seen also get me a little bit cised becasue they look and feel comic book-y. I got a lot of pleasure form the visual look of a game called XIII that used that look and I am also plesed to see that the look is not the same as CoX. Variety is the spice of life.

I'm so happy, I can hardly contain myself!

Another City Of SupersTypeGuy veteran here. I find it interesting that Cryptic is setting up another super powered MMORPG. Keen!

Hero system - oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy! A couple of weeks (or months maybe) ago I had an idea pop into my head to try starting an MMORPG based on Hero. I'm sure there would be copyright issues. I'm looking forward to PS238 in the Hero System. I also want to try programming a Hero based battle system and character generation system.

Where do I sign up to help program this thing?

lol you sound pretty happy Kuran. Have to admit, when I heard the announcement too, I got giddy! Yes giddy!!! Just brought back memories of me and my brother and friends playing the pen and paper version of Champions.

Also, you gotta love competion!! It brings out the best in companies and similar games. With Champions and COH/COV out, both will be doing there best to out do the other. Gotta love that!! Could make for some really interesting and fun updates and expantions. Here's to competion and Champions Online!

I'm not looking for a "City of" clone.

I was looking for Champions when "City of" hit the shelves.

Even though "City of" was not Champions, I stuck with it.

Will stick with it, but looking for a different enviroment.

The character abilities, if they stay close or on the original PnP that I played back in 1982 will be *GOOD*.

Hello, all. I am a 45+ month vet of CoX and an old time Champions player from way back when. The news of Cryptics developing Champions Online was welcomed news. Champions has tried to make it to the PC a couple of times in the 1980's and 90's that I seem to recall and now that Cryptic has picked up the ball, it will be interesting to see how they take their experience with CoX, and any ideas gleamed from the now cancelled MUO and bring them to ChO (my own abbreviation for Champions Online).

Just another beta tester of CoX (CoH Beta, CoV Beta, player since launch) that is also a huge HERO fan. I started late on RPG's, didn't even know what they were until college when my boyfriend hit me over the head (literally) with the BBB after an arguement where I insulted his gaming as 'wanna be comic writing' and my addiction to gaming was born. I've played and GM'd in many Champions/HERO campaigns since the early 90's, and it was my love for Champions that drew me to Jack's vision of CoH originally. When I got into Beta and saw how different it was from the original concepts I was let down, and almost quit, but I learned to appreciate it for what it is. I'm really looking to see what Jack does this time, and while I'm not expecting it (since I'm generally not a huge forums guy) I'd love to get into Beta (like all of you) when it's ready.

I have to admit I was crushed to hear MUO got canned. I've never heard of Champions before but knowing that the work on MUO was being saved with a new coat of paint helps ease the blow. I am looking forward to this and am going to pick up some Champions books just so I know about the background of the game. Part of what made me so excited for MUO was the idea of visiting an existing universe I knew a good deal about.

I've bene playing CoX since beta, and stalked all information about it since it was originally announced. I'm happy to see some of the great pre-launch CoH ideas that were dropped are being brought up in Champions. One of the things I looked most forward to in CoH was "zone raids" by the least defeated villain groups. The idea was if players hadn't attacked the 5th much this month (or whatver) they would start to invade surrounding zones, put up propaganda posters and speaker towers, and change the look of that zone until enough heroes beat them back and discovered their secret bases in these zones. What a great, dynamic idea but it never came to be. The Champions press release hints at something along those smae lines so I have my fingers crossed.

I guess I should stop ramlbing now.

As soon as I heard the news about Champions I checked oot the site and have to say that i'm already very exicted about the game already. Hi! Yes, I'm a current CoH/CoV player.

This game looks promising, but I'm a bit more cautious than others. Will this game offer what other games have not? How flexible will I be able to be? Will there be a dedicated Role-play server? And just how alike to City of Heroes will this be?

I'm sure all of these questions can be answered... in time. Given that I enjoy CoH and CoV so much, it will take a bit to buy me over. I hope that this game can do so.. I'd love to see a game that's even better than the awesomeness I already enjoy. I'm excited, and enthused.

Here's to hoping for a bright and colorful future!

Wow everyone sounds so excited, at first I was iffy and didn't know what to expect but after reading into what was planned I am going to look into champions pnp to see how well it works and oh heck yah sign me up I love customization to the max, I'm probably one of the few who plays Armored Core and wishes there was even more options to tweak.
Oh yah and long time CoX player although honestly I might as well say CoH I preferd the CoV AT's but never could get into playing a villain so mainly stuck hero side if they ever allow crossover I'll be all over that but in the meantime these forums are going to be closely monitored by me :D

And all the same goes for me. Read about this on the CoH forums and decided to check it out and see if Cryptic can make an improved CoH/CoV.

Ditto. Was an original Beta tester of COH and I'm willing to give Champions a fair shake. But I mirror the post of Tank Washington about the track record of Jack Emmert and COH.

All the features they pimp sound great, they remind me of
Jacks/Statesman and Cryptics other overestimations
the first time around;

a player can also choose special flaws and background that provide special limitations and advantages in game play.

Never happened

Every player's actions will affect where the city is going and what will happen next.

Never happened

As heroes complete missions and foil various villain groups, they acquire personal enemies who will start popping up more and more.

Nope

the actions of every hero are important in each Shard's storyline. Depending on the performance of heroes, the supervillains and their minions change and modify their approach.

Nope

The choice of origin is not cosmetic; Some origin types might be able to get more powers

Never happened

Some origin types will be more focused on skills than powers and consequently they will receive certain breaks on purchasing skills.

Never happened

villains and monsters will not appear in predictable locations.

Woops

Some origin types allow heroes special backgrounds that will provide special weapons and items to battle crime.

Nope

we designed an Arena combat system. A player who dies will respawn back in his base

Took two years after release to even see these,
and they were broken from the start.

Our mission system is quite involved. players will find little in the way of repetition.

Ya don't say, Jack, sounds great!

Players become an integral part of many ongoing story arcs as the villain groups react to player victories and defeats.

Never happened

Players can have a direct impact on what happens to the city.

Noppers, didn't make it

We're looking to release late next summer or next fall. Cryptic Studios plans to release City of Heroes in the summer of 2002.

Interview date: Oct 2001, actual release date: April 2004.
Just off by a tad.

Just a small list of Jack and Cryptics promos of things that
either just never happened, or were broken long after release.

Jeez, all that sounds like one hell of a game, nearly all of it
never happened.
If they actually did half of what they spun, this game never would've had the turnover rate it did.

Jack & Cryptic never had issue telling a tale everyone
wanted to hear , they couldn't back it up,
not in this product after nearly six years co-ownership.
And it's likely the trademark "Soon" will be copiously
sprinkled over questions of, "when is the archenemy feature going to work right?"

Take with a grain of salt the grand promotions coming from Jack and Cryptic,
compare the retail product with their current promotional promises, the two may not look anything alike.

Yeah, I was a beta for CoH (not CoV though, I'd gone on to WoW a little bit before that came out) and I'd love to see Champions turn out to be everything CoX could've been. I still play CoH occasionally, but it's just not as up to snuff as the other stuff on the market imo.

The way things are going with MMORPG's these days, it appears that users are always looking for the "next best thing" to keep the excitement going. The idea that Champions Online will allow customization to a degree not yet manifested in other games really caused me to ***** up my ears. Champions RPG may be rule-heavy, but your hero can be exactly what you conceive him to be.

I can hardly wait to see what kind of options are available to me. Character Creation looks to be as much fun as actual gameplay.

Great idea folks! (as is designing your personal nemesis)

Hello All,

I just found you guys...I heard about Champions on line a few days ago and meedless to say my girl was a little upset because I almost made a mess....cause I was so excited. I've been playing Coh/Cov since the 1st open beta for Coh. I love it and i just renewed my subscriptions for another year. Yeah I hold two accounts cause I got my girl playing also. But Champions on line OMG. I cannot wait. I played Champions table top way back when, I still play pen and paper Rpg's to this day...and Champions still has a place in my game experiences today...because hands down it is the most comprehensive Super Hero Sytem out there

I first discovered Champions with it's first edition rules. ever since, I have been running Champions off and on. Bar none, it is the favorite game of my gaming group, which has been going steady since 1974, and shows no sign of ever ending.

If you scrutinize the early editions of Champions, you will find my campaign... I ran in Tempe Arizona and with a cadre of several other GM's, published The Tempe Daily Bugler, a newsletter for our campaign... Yes, I am the not as infamous as I would like to be, J. Jonah Jimmieson, and I ran for the much more infamous than I will ever be Revanent. And I promise you, having a campaign stuffed to the gills with game designers, artists, writers, and other such gamer-geeks is not a walk in the park to run.

So, if you bring Champions Online the light of day, I'd love to play. I'm playing City of Heroes/City of Villains right now, just got my 30 month reward, and I'm enjoying that. I was looking forward to Marvel Online, but, well, Champions would be a better proposition, as far as I am concerned.

I don't suppose you are looking for someone to help out with scenario design? LOL,

Hello all and a special hello to my fellow "City of..." vets, I'm a student working on getting my Bachelor's in Game art and Design and so i'm always thinking of how games could be better. This game had taken what i have thought about and made it come true.

I'm excited to see that cryptic is gearing up for another home run, i think you guys can definitely do it. I was an Alt-A-Holic in CoH/V so i'm glad they are continuing with the great customization. I'm also stoked to see cross platforming going down on this game, that's off the hook!

I to was in the closed beta for both CoH and CoV and I am still plying. I have been playing Champions since it first came out and there are about 2000 comics baged and in boxes here.I REALLY hope Cyptic can make the Heros system work here without to may mods.

I really liked the power choices in Coh and Cov, because you could really get some cool combinations of powers, like one of my heores could fire energy bolts( with a variety of attacks), had super strength, and could fly. So I was wondering will most of power choices from Coh heores be in champions online or are you trying to create an entirley diffrent power selection. Also, as a suggestion, in Coh every two levels you got to choose a new power but it would really cool if you were given the option to upgrade, make stronger, longer range) on one of your current powers, I know there were enchancements but they never really seem to make that much of a diffrence. There was only one power in coh that was disappointing and that was super stenght, it was cool to knock someone back about 5 feet, but you should have added various attacks like uppercuts, quick jabs and takedowns and the ability to make yourself stronger, lvl 1 you stun someone, lvl 10- you knock them back a few feet, lvl 50- the person flys back about a hundred feet. Also, i know this would be really hard to do in an mmo but it would be really awesome to be able to use certain objects in the enviroment, to hit people with. Coh the quests were really annoying at times, i mean one had me travel across two districts(where every enemy was about 10 lvls higher than me) only to just talk to somebody who just sent me right back it was pointless and any mission you get from a contact should take place in the district they're in. Adding a greater variety of missions would be cool, instead of just killing people missions, you could have a burning building mission, and you have to avoid all the hazards and carry the people out. During the first 15 lvls it takes forever to get around, and in every district there should be some AI hero who could teleport you to another district, unti you got flight, super speed, etc

Ditto! But I'm only a 30 month vet in CoH. I'm hoping that CO will hold a bit more variety than CoX... there are only so many times you can fight CoT without getting bored.

Hopefully I'll get to play around in beta, my experiences with the last 3 closed beta tests for CoH were fascinating, and since I test software for a living it would be a fun experience.

Hi, all. I'm a writer/artist and have been in love with comics since my parents bought my first Superman book to keep me quiet on a road trip. I won't say exactly how long ago that was, but the book cost ten cents.

I've been playing pencil and paper RPGs since the first Dungeons and Dragons was released (I even have the board game OH NOES!). Champions and the Hero Games system was one of my gaming group's favorites. We used the system to play everything from Wild Wild West scenarios to to super spy espionage campaigns. It's a great system and I'm looking forward to seeing how it translates to online.

i Have Been on Coh for over 3 years and still love the game but i will admit there is still more i would like to see out of a Comic MMO I only Pray that Cryptic make this game in their own style not try to make a typical Main stream MMO ( WOW Clone) The thing i loved the most about the City Of games is that they are not borken by there economy players arnt slaves to questing to get the same items that everyone eles uses in order to fit the cookie cutter Toon type that is the "only" way to play the game. COX gave us freedom to make our toons how ever we wanted and we were playable regardless. I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us. And BTW uughhh ummmm Beta??? PC or 360 i am so there

Hello!

Has anyone heard anything solid about the following:

Beta testing - will it be done and if so, when will be the announcement and which part of the forums

Power builds - any teasers on what we may have in store for us and methods of progressing?

Layout - any way to change the screen appearance so we aren't reading white on black?

Tutorial - for those that have either A) never played an MMO (or just one, like I have) and B) not played a super MMO or PC game, will there be a tutorial to help you learn how to use your powers properly? (Sort of a super hero training or DANGER ROOM.)

Cost - will this cost about $15 a month?

Stories - will there be any quests that include non-combat skills and/or secret IDs?

Yes, I am excited! :)

I was so bummed out when I heard that Marvel Universe (online) got cancelled and in that same announcement I read that this (Champions) was coming from cryptic and all though I was looking forward to it (Champions) only because it will create competition where there is now a monopoly (COX) I wasn't super excited. Well let me tell you that has changed, this game looks AWESOME. According to IGN the game is expected to be released in 2009 so we still have some time to wait. in the mean time these forums will be a good place to spend some time.

For those that may be wandering I'm a long time CoH/CoV player, but I have always found the game lacking. I think Cryptics idea here sounds more promising than the current CoH world. Being a long term CoH forum poster it sounds like Cryptic has taken some of the fans suggestions to improve the game, even if it means starting over. The Arch Nemesis idea immediatley stood out as I remember some forum discussions on the subject. Even if they didn't get idea from us the fans at least Cryptic is on the same page as us.

I'm looking foward to the game and hope to see more information about it. Keep up the good work Cryptic.

... The Arch Nemesis idea immediatley stood out as I remember some forum discussions on the subject. ...

I think the arch nemesis idea is FANTASTIC. It gives the player more attachment to the world, while allowing the developers some breathing room to focus on a central cast rather then trying to cater to everyone's individual's tastes. I wonder if we're going to be able to develop the villain's power sets like the heroes??? Because that'd be awesome, if open to potential abuse by "nerfing" your own nemesis... unless they're always a sufficiently higher level to you to provide a good threat... hmmm...

1) fighting shoulder to shoulder with the Champions (minus seeker and jaguar....BOOOO) and other supergroups like the Protectors...
2) throwing GROND in STRONGHOLD....
3) snatching Hideous' mask off
4) guarding our thoughts form PSI and horrifying characters like PSYMON and the Mind Slayer...
5) slapping foxbat silly....:D
6) staying the hell out of VIPER'S way...
7) shuddering at the thought of the 7 HORSEMEN of Apocalypse....

we'll be waiting patiently. FYI: interestingly enough, this game was the deciding factor in our group of friends going XBOX360 instead of PS3...NO PRESSURE! :)

7) shuddering at the thought of the 7 HORSEMEN of Apocalypse....:eek:While The Seven Horsemen are my favorite group, most likely they won't appear as they're not a part of 5th Ed canon. :( In fact, most of my favorite characters are not a part of 5th Ed. (Copyright issues.) It will have a monthly subscription cost. You can be sure of that.

I beta'd COH and stayed in game off and on for over a year and a half. Ultimately, real life got me. The concept for this game looks intriguing enough that I may have to put another hobby down, when the game goes live...:p

Unless they charged $100+ for the game, they would quickly lose profit by not charging a monthly (or extended) fee. Either that or the game would have to be VERY simple and without much, if any, content added as it went on.

Well, they could also go with 'micro-transaction' sales instead of monthly subs. (Like sell costume packs, zone packs, etc.) Micro-transactions really haven't hit the states yet though.

Well, they could also go with 'micro-transaction' sales instead of monthly subs. (Like sell costume packs, zone packs, etc.) Micro-transactions really haven't hit the states yet though.Hmm, I supposed that'd be an option, but I don't see it as feasible (however, not having hit the states, I don't really have a full grasp of it). I just know that the cost of paying humans to work for your company is generally the biggest expense companies have. And to pay one John Doe even 30k a year would mean hundreds of games would have to sell each year just for him. If you have 100 employees, that's 10,000 games, as least.

If it's $15 a month or less, I think I can handle it (especially if discounts are given for paying 3, 6, 9, or 12 months at a time!), if it's like cable/satellite or cellular phone services of $40-50+ a month, well, I can't do that (unless this game is groundbreaking so much that it alters current living).

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forums, but I have to say I can't wait for more information on Champions. I'm really looking forward to this game. I know it's going to be quality stuff since the team behind it kicks serious butt.

Hi everyone, just thought I'd post here as I'm looking forward to the launch of this game to compare it to CoX. I am an eternal badge holder and have been playing CoX constantly since launched. I hope Cryptic comes up with a winning formula for this game so that it will give me something else to try. I can't stand the WoW game or anything like it that I've tried. The graphics (comic book like) look really good for this game. I hope it stays on schedule and comes out soon.

Anyone heard anything about how to sign up to have a chance at beta testing? I know its early but hey, I thought it might be a possibility if they were looking to have some people early on take a look at the game, I know I'd be interested.

Have been playing board and RPG games before the computer was a house holds word and now for the last 15 years an avid computer gamer I am very happy to see Champions RPG turned into a MMO. Was a Game Master for the original Champions and worked my way up through version IV of the rules. Really happy to see Champions RPG made into a computer game. Your efforts have made me go into the attic find and dust off my old Champions Books and Game Master guide. After looking at my GM notes I realized it has been 18 years since I last played the RPG. Kind of cool looking back and remembering friends sitting around for hours and even days at a time working out the plots and puzzles I would place before them.

Played COH and COV for about 27 months before I lost interest. Great game and all, however I found it short in interaction in a really comic detailed way. Yes you could join a group and have interaction with other players but the villains were two dimensional. No personal disadvantages were played in COH and COV. What I mean is to be truly immersive there needs to be a connection between villain and super hero. COH needed something to make the hero really want to defeat the villain. Not to sure how an AI would ever be able to do something like that. One thing I remember, and really the best times as a GM, was the moment I could get a player or all the players engrossed into a villain and just watch the efforts they made to capture said villain. What I found most effective was the personal connection where the super hero’s disadvantage was a DNCP I would have the villain or his cronies kidnap the DNCP where the disadvantage was water there would be a game session where the villain would have a water type of attack. Never would I make the villain all powerful to where the players would lose the over all war, however there were times they did lose the battle, but in such a way they would always want to play the next segment. In order to do this have you thought of GMs playing villains and being able to pick certain heroes (the main customers...for example the yearly subscribers) and playing to their disadvantages?

Just some thoughts from an old timer.

personally getting rather, ok VERY bored with CoX, and hoping that Champions will be significantly better

20+ year vet of assorted PnP RPGs, some more than others (AD&D, D&D3/3.5 (will not touch 4ed), Marvel, DC, Gamma World, Stormbringer, Traveller, Star Frontiers, GURPS, Heroes Unlimited, Rifts, M&M, BattleTech, Champions, and others that I know I am forgetting)

have yet to find a really good online game that holds my interest for any length of time, must have been that 6 or 7 years I spent working at a video game arcade...there's a challenge for the Devs, getting people like myself (skeptical, but willing to try something new to see if it measures up to our standards) hooked on what is in essence a video game

I thought I read that they were going to let people eventually become villains but I love the idea of devs playing villains or having it be something to work up to.Yes, the Devs have stated that we will only be playing heroes to start out at launch, but they are working on a method for us to play villains.

Honestly, from a business stand point, it makes sense to release the villain portion as an optional extension pack if both CO and CO Villains Edition (Villains Onlne?) are relatively low-cost. If they combined the two into one (which isn't necessarily a bad idea), the product would cost nearly 2x as much and that might put it out of some people's price range.

Having the Devs (or simply employees) play villains could be interesting. If so, I'd like to sign up for that job!

I cut my teeth so to speak with table top RPG gaming playing Champion's! It was my first addiction you might say (not that I am addicted to anything). I am so excited about this I played COH and COV for a year or so but was never able to fall in love with it. I am hoping for so much more with this game!

I would really like to know how one goes about getting on as a beta tester?

The more I read on the site the more I can't wait for the game to come out. I was originally really excited about warhammer, but now that I know about this game; this is looking way better. I mean how can you beat super heroes? Plus it's being brought to us by Cryptic. I just hope that a open beta happens in the next few months. Say early fall, please?

Have to agree with everyone that the art looks very cool.It sounds like this would make a great instance with Area 51, Project Greenskin, and Burnside being the the "zone" around it. I am also wondering about the robotic bug looking things on the columns in the 5th pic. What on earth could they be?
Stronghold was the first module I purchased for Champions and I now await the new version to arrive int he mail. I still have the original so it will be fun to compare the two and see what has changed.

How glorious and wonderful those days were... with the beta servers only open for 16 hours a week ((hmmm... i think I still remember the schedule for Westcoast time - Wed 3 - 7 pm, Friday 6-10 pm and I think it was Saturday 10am to 6pm... they were seared into my memory because they were the most important hours of my week )

anyway, looking forward to the game and some of the great discussions we'll have here. Nothing beats the Champions RPG ... Except possibly, Champions Online!

I am yet another long-time fan of the HERO Gaming System. From Chapions to Fantasy Hero to Space Hero to odd concoctions dreamed up by my friends and I, the HERO System is, bar none, the best I have seen in the PnP world. While I certainly understand that there are certain logistics which limit what can be done without a live GM, I am hoping that the folks at Cryptic are able to remain as true to the original system as feasible. I have often looked at CoX and thought, "You know, this could be so much better if it were done based on the HERO system". Perhaps now I can see if I was right. :)

Whats not to love about taking a great game (coh/cov) and makinging better? To take that one step further and have access to years worth of story lines from the Champions universe is exactly what the stale MMo market needs right now. You can bet that Shoko and the Girls of GoTH will be seen taking to the streets once again. :)

Hi!! So happy that I found this site, The game looks like it could be great. One of the things that really interests me is the "fast paced action." One of the reasons I left CoH and CoV (after many months of fun) was the click-and-watch aspect. I have gotten tired of this type of MMO where you dont really feel involved. Another thing That I noticed which really has me excited is the power customability. One thing that I loved about CoX was the player customability, but all of the powers/attacks/weapons are the same. People will play this game over CoX just for that aspect.

For this game to survive its gonna have to succeed in every aspect that CoX fails and then some. Looks like its off to a good start.

Hey there! Former CoX player myself. Went to the dark side for a while (WoW) got bored, and then tried FFXI after a five year absence. I can say for a fact that CoX was one of my favorite online experiences. The character/costume creation, while absolutely the best hands down, I'd have to say the communities and many of the players are what made my experience all the more wonderful.

Funny enough I heard about Champions Online from a friend of mine who wanted to start a campaign using the Champions system. I've only just looked at the books and tried to absorb the complicated rule system, I'm a veteran of Dungeons and Dragons so I grasp a little. Anyway, I was doing research on Champions and stumbled across CO. I had heard Cryptic was designing Marvel Universe Online, I was of course excited to hear that as I am currently playing in a campaign using the Marvel Universe RPG system (Mastery of Plants hero :D). I recently looked into the rumor of MUO and found that they canceled it, but saw that they took up Champions Online. I'm very excited. From what I've read of the Champions setting, it is rich with history and characters.

I also was lent a copy of the Powers book and all I can say is that I hope they will develop "Wood and Plant" powers. I know they had them in City of villains and I was always hoping they'd adapt it for hero side. Anyway, hope to get a chance to play. It sounds good so far!

I'm seeing things I have seen before I have to say I can't wait to play but I have some hesitation. I'm going to look for a lot of the features to be there at release this "we will put it in later" attitude is what is hurting CoX so much "to little, to late" should be that games motto I'd hate to see that here.

Been there, done that my friend, hehe!

This looks like they are trying to put alot of necessities in the game for release. Looks like game, content, PvP, power custoomization, choose power colors, toon customization, creat own arch-nemesis. Things look good so far. Hopefully they have that and a whole lot more. More features, more appeal!

Man if anything could drag me away from FFXI its gonna be this game. I hope it delivers what its boasting.
From what ive seen in game Informer im seriously impressed. I really do wanna see a super hero game along the lines of a spiderman 2 (PS2) with vast amounts of custom options as to who you are what you stand for and how much @$$ you kick. At the same time be in an environment where you can do pretty much anything alla Grandtheftauto bringing it to xbox360 is a very wise idea just make sure you plan ahead unlike square with final fantasy 11. Dont make the system control the options available in future installments. That is to say dont make the finished product limited to current hardware. Plan ahead build an engine you can change later but at the same time can perform differently on different systems. So for example the graphics capability of a playstation 2 is well behind PS3 and xbox360 and both will fall behind newer PC builds. Make your game more open to the idea that the hardware is gonna change in the life span of this game. If you do it right you can manage a far longer life cycle and keep ppl on all platforms (announced or otherwise) happy.

Niiice... I LOVE the Watchmen. Looking forward to the movie as well.

As for Champions Online - I played the original RPG (with the gray cover) back in the 80's and I'm nostalgic for the heroes I played and the villains I GM'ed. I also played CoX (participating in the CoV beta).

My dreams for Champions Online:

1. Options, Options, Options: In the RPG you can buy ANY power based on a point system (instead of being stuck with an archetype and then two powersets like CoH). A carrot-vs.-the-stick method of encouraging a theme was a point discount framework... but if you wanted an armored guy with a decent Strength, a decent Defense and a decent Energy Blast you could swing it. When playing CoH (which because of the genre as well as the developer this game will inevitably be compared to) I was often disappointed how the system prevented me from building my character concepts.

2. Secret Identities: This concept provides HUGE opportunities that CoH simply doesn't have - a normal world with super-heroes (instead of a world OF super-heroes where EVERYBODY from the street thugs to the Arch-Villains have super powers), keeping your identity secret, having a job, socializing, using skills both in and out of costume, Dependent NPC's (Lois Lane, Aunt May, etc.), having a co-worker or friend who is a super-villain and not even know, and more.

3. Role-Play: I've never played The Sims, but in-game mechanics that influences role-play (for both the hero and the Secret Id) would be great - making it matter how you treat people, how you fight crime, how you live, how you make money, etc. Possibly making even non-super player characters a viable option (secret agents, police, doctors, reporters, crime bosses, etc.).

4. PvP: I'm not big into PvP as it is commonly implemented in MMORPGs but hero-vs.-hero fights are common in the comics (typically due to misunderstandings or crossed purposes) and foiling the plans of a player character villain would be awesome. Along those lines... being able to respond to a crime that a player character villain is commiting would be nice.

Okay... simply some random thoughts. I look forward to Champions Online with as much enthusiasm as I did Dungeons and Dragons Online (back in the day prior to abundant PC and console games it was ALL about the paper-and-pencil RPGs baby!). I hope to participant in any testing and/or BETAs.

Kirby

Here are some things I'm hoping will be implemented by Cryptic regarding Champions:

Secret ID - If you can play as your "normal" self and get involved with "normals" and perhaps even being caught up in a bank robbery in your Secret ID, that would be great!
DNPCs - Having them in the game both to converse with (plot seeds?) and have their relationship flucutate depending on what is done (missing a date, leaving unexpectedly, etc.). If you could somewhat customize your DNPC (personality traits, profession, etc), that would be sweet as well.
Hunteds - I've heard a bit on the Nemesis, but if we can include Hunteds for extra points/powers, I'm all for it. Going to stop a generic bank robbery committed by normals and having VIPER show up to "exact revenge" would be unique.
Vulnerabilities - OK, not so much "loving" this, but if we received free/extra powers/points for this as well, so much the better (and then see how that turns out in PvP)
Power Frameworks - If something similar to Elemental Controls and Multipowers is used, that could make theme heroes more abundant and allow customized heroes their uniqueness, instead of commonplace.
NORMALS! - Yes, let's have this a regular world WITH super powered individuals instead of simply a world OF supers.
Customization, Customization, Customization - Not just for uniforms, but for builds. If I want to make a super fast, mildly strong, Sumo Wrestler who can fly, let me build it! I don't mind price discounts for themed characters, just don't penalize individual thoughts.
Housing/Economy - I never played CoH/CoV, so I don't know if they offered it (and really don't care, unless the answer urges Cryptic to partake of this), but I'd like to be able to buy/rent a house or apartment in the game world. Is Grond attacking a skyscraper in Millennium City? Let me feel worried because I own/rent a studio apartment there! Is Firewing buring houses in a nice neighborhood? Is it *my* house or my neighbors'? Can I buy a motor vehicle? Let me drive from point A to B, then move to C where I change into my costume. If a super battle breaks out on the streets, I can then worry about my car being destroyed!
Jobs! - Probably belongs with Secret ID, but can my character have a job? (Can I spend points on Wealth?!) While actually Roleplaying work won't be too fun (unless there's adventure!), having a job with an income helps me buy stuff to decorate my place. :)
I'm sure I have more ideas, but this is off the top of my head, sort of.

CoX current player, closed beta'd CoV, played tabletop Champions/Hero system for years, and WAY excited to see it come to the MMO arena! SO looking forward to this game!

I'm hoping that some form of the Disadvantages system for character generation will survive this transition. If character generation works like the Hero system, I'm going to cackle madly with glee every time I log on.

Hi everyone my name is John,

i just want to talk about how i have studied and have had a hand in some other things in game input and research the difference between good MMORPG's and bad MMORPG's and just give you my input on some of the features ( i know its long but its very informational).

Thanks for reading

Though i do not have any college experience, i have hands on expierance making maps and different tips and have put a hand in for some games.. i have also studied and payed very close attention to many of the techniques that make an excellent MMORPG and what makes a Horrible MMORPG and what makes one fail. the one i have looked at and realy payed attention to that is a HUGE succes will be very fammiliar to many people. Its called WOW ... The World of Warcraft, to many its a huge hit! but there are also very many who dont want to hear its name mentioned to them ever again. I also looked a COH - City of Heroes, and Cillians... its not as big as WOW and there are a few reasons.. The ease and simplicity of player acces to a "friend's list" is KEY! most people thing Graphics is the one key part of a game... not true at all. though it is an important factor its not the biggest... maybe to attract attention but to make the players stay is what you want ... you will find you lure more people in by word and keep them longer if the players can have ease of acces to their friends.. ive heard "the more complicated youre game gets the better it is and longer people will stay" that not entirely true by any means. you could have a bingo game that would consist of a electronic light board and blue and red LED's for the lights when you have that certain space... maybe it moght make it a little more interesting but if ure trying to "pimp out" a boaring game ure realy not getting very far. the three big basis for a game (and there are many more components) are Player concectivity to each other and the ability to comunicate and play and group with each other this is very important you cant realy stress it,, unless ure OCD... the second would be a good game basis. and a GOOD story line in some ways tie it into the game. dont have a story line that doesent branch off.. you dont realy see fun building with one hallway runing through the whole building you niide too have side hallways to make it fun... (its not the best analogy but you can see what im talking about) then just beside storyline you need to have the cenario of the game looking good. then the third its about as important as maybe the first.. and this would be have something for the highend players to do... have alot for them.. work up to things that are almost impossible for them to get. but dont have stuff thats to hard also you want a variety of lvl of difficulty to reach for. also make some of it only accesable by groups and some by "soloing".. like in WOW they have gear. thats one realy good thing they did. you need items also not just spells or abilitys to obtain. but those are nice too.. one thing WOW isnt realy succeding in right now is their proffesion for the players.. ill explain.. proffesions are things like blacksmithing, tailoring, and leather working these are traits that every player can get (but only allowed 2) you can craft items for use and other things... mining and skinning and herbalism are for like you mine a mine to get ore ... you can skin animals to get hides and skins.. but here is there problem the new level 70 player realy doesent have much of a use for there professions because their gear is better than what they could make... except for engineering and alchemy which you can make kool items that do kind of funny things like this gnomish looking helicoptor and shrinking devises and things like that ... and alchemy its to make potions that buff the player up which will almost allways be used..though there is a new proffesion and its jewelcrafting.. this you can make gems that go into peices of armor to socket the gems into the items that gives plusses to different stats.... but that anough about professions.
Also another big thing is to have classes ina good variety with much different spells and thingslike that not going to expand cause i think everyone will understand that easily.

but anyways these are just some of the crucial things that make a good game though i have just skimmed the surface. and if you dont belive me ask one of the staff for this game that on the forums.

If you study some of the leading MMORPG's and learn for your mistakes you should do just fine in this game creation procces. looking forward to see this game being completed!.. KEEP IT UP CRYPTIC and everyone else who has a hand!!:D :)

 Um, Hi John. It's kind of hard to tell just what your point is with all the deviations, but I think if you edited your post and used proper grammar and sentence structure, your point will come across much easier. It seems to make sense, though there are lots of run-on ideas/sentences. (I'm guessing you're trying to say "Keep it simple/friendly, even if it is highly detailed.")

Just for the last bit (since it's part of your signature), don't you mean learn from your mistakes (the common saying) as opposed to learn for your mistakes?

Well first of Hi all,

second of all im looking forward to knowing when this game is released ive played CoH and CoV theyre really good but as much of the games i play i download at least 2 new ones a day and pay alot so i cant exactly play all of them but this game actually looks from the trailer alot better than quite a few games ive played.

Third i would just like to ask a for a few tips, im 16 just finishing school and after going college for game creating i just wanted to know what things i should look up on for a bit of a head start, any sites or any information please post or send via email to alako2@gmail.com.

Thankyou

Long time beta tester from COH looking forward to beta testing this new place. I have been playing champions since 82 so am real happy to see it move to this format. I am really looking to see how well making a unique object that can be stolen and only works in the day time would be doable on this system. Also I love the idea of making my arch villian as well.

Hi!

My name's Selenio and I live in Barcelona, Spain. I play rpgs since I was 9 (19 years ago... hell, I'm growing old... :() and I read comics since I was even younger. I started playing CoH little after its release (even before there were European servers) and I was there for some time, but work and studies soon made impossible to find time to play (I even had to decline an invitation to join the CoV betatesting!).

Now, with time again (due to a change of job :D), I've been looking for a game in which to spend my time and searching on the web I've read about Champions Online. I'm really impressed by what I've read and really eager to play it when it hits the stores in a year (I hope).

See you over here!

Selenio.

And I might add....ITS ABOUT FRIGGIN TIME!!! I first played Champions in 2nd or 3rd grade, even before I tried out D&D....now I'm 36 <gack>....in all of those years I saw one D&D computer game after another, and I saw some attempts at hero type games (Freedom Force for one) and of course played COH/COV and did my share of beta testing, but for the life of me I could not see how this didn't get made earlier. I can't wait to see just how big things are gonna be. So, just in case I wasn't clear before....

As a huge fan of CoH/CoV I am hardly waiting for this game. Finally a breath of fresh air in a genre that is filled with WAY too many fantasy MMO's. This looks to be the coolest MMO ever and if it has even more character customization than CoH/CoV has then this is going to truly diversify the look of characters. It is already hard to find duplicate characters in CoH/CoV, but with the looks of this I think no one will ever look the same. Cannot FREAKIN' wait for this! Thank you Cryptic!

I have been in both CoH and CoV closed and open betas. I truly like both games. I played Champions PNP too. I was very excited to see that Cryptic was making a Champion MMO. Can't wait to see what they do with it.

Wow, for a COH/COV vet I must be slow to have taken this long to find out about this. I was looking over everything on the site and I must say I haven't geeked out this hard since COH was first announced. Everything looks absolutely amazing and all that you guys are striving for just sounds like it's going to be incredibly fun to play.

And who ever designed that one character with the energy sword and the white and blue costume, you're my new hero. That's the coolest looking game character I've seen in a long time.

Okay, I'm a month late getting to this party, but I didn't hear about this until a friend told me about it yesterday.

When COH came out, I was thrilled because my favorite genre (super heroes) was finally getting MMO treatment. It was a 3-year addiction that was probably the best dollar-per-hour-of-entertainment value I had ever spent. But the game definitely had its flaws, and I couldn't help but wonder what an MMO that more closely followed the design principles of Champions might be like.

Well, here we are. An honest-to-god Champions MMO. I will be watching the development of this game very closely. I think this is a great opportunity to "do super heroes correctly", and I don't want to see it squandered. I'd like to see how much Jack really learned from his experience designing COH, because with all his experience with the HERO System, he should have known better the first time around.

I hope he and Cryptic have the courage to take this MMO in new directions, breaking from all the conventional wisdom that says you can't do this or that in an MMO without seriously jeopardizing the potential (or existing) subscriber base. I have a list a mile long of things that this game should do differently (from COH or any MMO for that matter), many of which are technically and philosophically challenging compared with the status quo. But they are doable with enough time, talent, money, and faith, all of which are typically in short supply in the entertainment industry in general.

I am somewhat encouraged, however, by some of the things I have read in the News section so far, but I still see a depressing degree of slavish devotion to existing MMO design conventions (mob spawns, mission contacts, pre-packaged "narrative" content, powers that don't scale well like strength and movement, etc.). I am hoping to have the time and opportunity to be a persistent thorn in Cryptic's side on all these issues, because I really do want only the best for this game!

Hello to all of you. I've been a Champions RPG player for the last seven years and a Champions GM for the last 3 years. Very excited to see this coming about. I've played online RPG's since NWN came out in... what was it? 2003 I think? And have been on WoW for the last year or so. No familiarity with CoX beyond screenshots and word of mouth. But THIS game looks exciting. Definitely looking forward to being part of an online Champions experience from the ground up.

This.. makes me very, very happy. Finally some end game for soloists. Finally, the forced grouping has an out. It was a poor idea and ended up being the reasons why people stop playing. When you can't find someone to group with, the game stops. That's never a good thing.

CoH/CoV veteran here. Started with the games waayyy back during the first few months of launch. Winter Lord FTW! Also dabbled in Eve, FFXII, EQ2, Guild Wars....

Hi everyone, as a noob to Champions, just 1 question.. When is the approx date of release of Champions for the Xbox 360 ? As an avid gamer of far too many years, i recall a concept called `Super Heroe` for the the old xbox years ago which never materialised. I must admit having just found out about this venture today i almost wet myself in anticipation. As an avid player of a fantasy online game (no names) for 3 yrs (no not WOW the other 1) i find the idea of Champions to the gaming world as to coin a phrase `its about time`. Any further info gratefully recieved. ...... Waits with bated breath. :D

Hello there! :]
I, as well, am a veteran of City of Heroes/Villains - 2 years counting. Looking at this game and reading all about it, I must say I am proud and exited of it. ^^; I am indeed leaving the City of Heroes and Villains to join Champions. Very nice to be part of a game that is brand new, from the beginning. I hope very much that I'll be able to help this game out in any way possible. ;] I shall do my very best.

Hi guys.

I have played CoX for years now, while i only have the 30 month badge, mainly due to times i couldnt afford to keep my account open at the time. I loved the game and it was my big intro into MMORPG's. I have tried others time and again and always find myself coming back to CoX.

I heard from a friend of mine about champions RPG while i was teaming with them on CoX. He told me about where it was based on and that cryptic was doing it. I had to check it out.
From what ive seen, its got all the elements that will make a superhero game great.

I hope that as the time draws near ill get a chance to get involved in a pre-order or beta play of the game! :D

Since the moment word reached me about the Champions MMO, all other MMO's have kind of lost their lustre. What I've read so far, this game is A1 and am looking forward to any Beta testing that I can become involved with. If not, then I'll have to drool till till the game finally releases.

Here's hoping for a successful game, good response when it is out and so on. Best wishes to the entire crew and your endeavors to make this the superb game its shaping up to be so far.

Hi. My Name's Dwayne. I just recently joined this site because i'm interested in Champions online. My only question is is about online play and how many players will there be on the 360 version of the game? I'm just wondering cause i think it would be cool to have Thousands or more people online playing the game on the 360.

i know the pc version will probably have millions or so people online at once.

Looks like the most solid MMO approaching in the near(ish) future. I have always been enticed by the whole concept of playing an RPG on the internet in a persistent world but the myriad of fantasy cookie cutters on the market just haven't, well, cut it for me :P

I'm excited about this game for a lot of reasons. I did play a lot of the CoX, but it's just nice to have another game that isn't fantasy in the orc/elf sense. I like those all well enough but I like the deviation from it as well.

Also, I'm a sucker for character customization and Cryptic is pretty much the master of that. XD

So glad that you are at the reigns Cryptic,,COV & COH were/are both excellent. Equally glad you decided to bring it to Xbox 360. I just know that the Live features like in game voice chat right out of the box, friends lists, game invites, etc etc are really going to strengthen the sense of community your games have always brought us. Hope to help in any way possible while you guys are toiling away on this and definitely plan on enjoying the finished product for many years to come. Please do not hesitate to ask. for anything;)

My name is Icedragyn and I've been playing CoH and CoV since beta. I'm really excited to see how you guys at Cryptic will improve on CoX with Champions Online. I'm especially excited about your new combat system, power customization, the way you guys are handling the powers (no archetypes), the fact that we won't be confined to one city, and the graphic style. I also can't wait to get a look at your character creation system. I know it's still early but it looks awesome and I can't wait for beta. I wonder when that will be... (<---not so subtle hint)

Great job so far!

I am not new to online gaming either. I am into CoX and have 2 lvl 50 heroes and one lvl 50 Villain. I have 3 accounts because my wife and my kids play also. My wife and I both beta tested Vanguard. I liked the way a popup came up every time you completed a quest and asked for information about the quest. Things like was it too easy or too hard? Was it hard to find? ect... I played Champions when I was in high school in the 80's. I cannot wait for this game. Also very excited about the new Star Trek game Cryptic is working on. I would love to Beta test both of them. The questionnaire is a great idea I think also.

Finally an MMO that looks like it will be fun all the way through
no offence but after years of CoH and CoV the game gets stale
and after WoW sure theres pleanty of quests but the team based system is crap.
Instantly this game apeals 2 me:
no1) Super powered freaks
no2) Deathbeams
no3) Amazing look ( the comic book feel makes the game much more hero villain based)
no4) an archenemy (cant wait 2 design some interesting story lines)
Thumbs up 2 all u guys working on this game u won my respect :D:D:D
