I realize it may be too early to ask about such things, but nevertheless: will it be possible to purchase the game digitally, download the client and play without having to buy the actual box?

That would make life much easier for us non-US, non-Europe super-villains.

probably, especially if there is an open beta as patching that to launch mode would be simple enough.

so in essence cant say for certain but yes most likely

Here's to hoping it will be avaliable upon release, or at least the downloadable client part. Usually it is possible to grab an account activation key from some third-party retailer that emails it to you immediately and ships the box afterwards.

I don't want to wait an extra month. And the fact that Amazon won't ship games into my country does not help either.

Now you do realize that CO is Heroes only at launch right? Can't play a "real" villain....

Details, details. It doesn't make the game worse, to me at least. And the common opinion is, eventually they will add this feature. And it's not like the hero genre lacked briooding, angsty or angry types to begin with, so... not a problem.

IMy only concern with this game is not being able to get it in time. That would rain on my parade all right.

It would be nice for a release onto Steam, would likely raise the profile of the game (a lot of people only find games by what they see on the Steam front page) and whilst I'll likely be getting the collectors edition (assuming there is one) I'd probably also get it through Steam if they had it on preorder/load.

(Steam has secure content encryption allowing players to pre-load the game which is then unlocked on release day, meaning no wait for the game.)

Unfortunately, we didn't see a digital purchasable copy of City of Heroes at launch; that could be NC Soft's fault though.

So here's to client download at launch! Most are able to pre-order it within the cities and get it within a week or so after launch (the box that is), but for us in the regional areas of Australia, usually wait 2-4 weeks for it - and that's because the damn companies don't offer express on pre-orders!

Nobs I tell ya!

Digital download & purchase please.

It's been a couple of years but as I recall I was able to buy CoH at launch from NCSoft's store and download and install the game through them. Since there was no EU release it was my only option. I think they stopped advertising it pretty quickly though, probably so they wouldn't **** off retailers, and you had to know where to look to be able to find the option.
