Browsing the web today Massively has posted a couple great articles about their experience in Champions Online, they give some information that we've all been looking forward to.

Massively Hands-on: Combat in Champions Online (http://www.massively.com/2009/05/04/massively-hands-on-combat-in-champions-online/)
Massively Hands-on: Creating superheroes in Champions Online (http://www.massively.com/2009/05/04/massively-hands-on-creating-superheroes-in-champions-online/)
Massively Hands-on: The first five levels of Champions Online (http://www.massively.com/2009/05/04/massively-hands-on-the-first-five-levels-of-champions-online/) - New*

Highlights include:

I've found that solo combat is a whole hell of a lot of fun. It's responsive, gives you moments to mash powers and feel really strong, but also challenges you in ways that once you've won a tough fight, makes you feel even more heroic than before.

Anyhow, since I'm sure you're all wondering, here's a rundown of the power frameworks:

* Archery
* Darkness
* Electricity
* Fire
* Force
* Gadgeteering
* Ice
* Martial Artist: Dual Blades
* Martial Artist: Fighting Claws
* Martial Artist: Single Blades
* Martial Artist: Unarmed
* Might
* Munitions
* Power Armor
* Sorcery
* Supernatural
* Telekinesis
* Telepathy

Moving on to the body tab reveals the outer space-like depths of Champions Online's character creation. Almost everything in this tab deals with sliders, and there are a lot of them -- 40 in all, actually.

Within the body tab, you'll have three sections to work with: size, body and face. The primary options under size are height, muscle and body mass. Although there are also sliders for neck, shoulders, chest width, chest depth, arms, arm thickness, bicep, forearm, hand size and hand thickness.

Oh, we're just getting started.

They are pretty long and informative, I'm sure that they will post more of them throughout the day and the week.

Enjoy!

Just finished reading Massively's hands-on experience - Good gravy, I am so getting this game.

A smart-sounding combat system with a mixture of streaming, charging and rhythm-tapping powers to add to their strength in between the mash-happy punching... yes, now I can clearly see this working on a 360 pad. The overhauled Origins selector sounds like it has more in common with the attributes you gave your custom hero in Freedom Force, letting you select up to 9 distinct background traits that improve some stats while weakening others, shaping the role of your character. And the downright staggering number of options in the way of powers and costume bits... this is shaping up to be a hell of a sequel to City of Heroes in all but name.

Must be patient - CO's not gonna be out for another couple of months, and already there's a metric crapload of great-looking games coming out around June. I'll give it a week or so after it's been released, let Cryptic add a bit of extra spit and polish after the initial launch. Then, the Chimpion will be ready to mash the wicked!
