so i was reading the dev diary on IGN, and first i see "This means there may be multiple instances of a particular area running at the same time. If there is, you choose which instance to enter."
and first thing i think "GW rip off" not that it actually is but just similar *glance glance* but that isn't waht ****ed me off
first COMMENT i see is " i can bet you that the xbox monthly fee will be a lot less than the PC fee"
i feel like i remember a dev or someone saying that it would be the same price... or something
if not they really should say something like "IF there is a monthly fee AND there is an xbox version it will be the same price as the PC one"
see? only that one fact revealed (well two if you count it coming out for the p :D )

I wouldn't get too worked up about. When the game finally does come out for 360, they'll see that the subscription price is the same as the PC version :)

They wouldn't change the price for subscription. I mean, come on.. It's the same game on both platforms, right? It wouldn't make sense to charge one group less than the other. Cryptic would love having the money!! Haha. :D:D

I wouldn't take comments people make on the internet as gospel. :)

Wait.....are you saying that not everyone that makes a comment on the internet is an informed, well reasoned, enlightened individual capable of conveying rational, coherent thoughts while treating others with respect?
Stunning.
This explains so much that I've experienced over the years with my misguided perceptions.:p

That is really sad. That was one of the "features" that completely ruined Age of Coan in my eyes. You never had a feeling of being in a real enviroment the moment you saw one of your friends being in the same area, right on your spot - just in another instanced version of your area. That felt so wrong...

I have a character in CoH who roleplays it like that on the odd occasions I end up in a seperate instance of the same zone.

It has to work like that though, they aren't doing multiple servers - so they have to do sharding zones (which they also did in CoH/CoV). Let's say they launch with even 100,000 players - would you really want them all crammed into the same shard of the same low level zone? What happens if the games a resounding success and they eventually get 500,000? Can you say, holy respawn camping batman!?

Can you imagine how hard it might be to try and get all of your friends into the same shard when there are 5,384 shards all running your zone at the same time? :)

According to Massively its going to be like GW where we can pick which "shard" we are in. So coordination isn't a problem.

It is a problem if your friends are scattered throughout several different shards.

Actually it's not near as cumbersome as you would think. They'll all be numbered and you will be able to see what number you are in. Then you all just move to the same instance. Of course if you're grouped, you'll automatically be put in the same one.

Imagine that. I have been in the Playtest for 8 months and it is not as cumbersome as I think. :)

Yeah, I remember playing on a WoW server the day it opened and there wasn't a single mob alive anywhere in the lowbie zones from all the people camping the spawns. Far better to have multiple instances so if one's too busy you can go to a different one with less people.
