I know there will be a sidekick system (and a group sidekick system which is a big plus) because of Nexus' FAQ where it was posted:

Does Champions Have anything to do with a team?

Yes. To be specific, villain strongholds (see non combat powers question), Giant monsters at various areas, as well as a sidekick system that allows one person to sk the rest of a team

But do we know any more information then that? I think a sidekick system is a big part of the fun aspect of the game and a reason why CoX did so well. Being able to play with friends is my biggest influence when buying a game (I've already pre-ordered this game so it won't make a difference there, but for other people.) and I know some sidekick systems in MMO's gimp XP for either one or both of the players. I trust Cryptic knows what they are doing, but some reassurance would be nice, also do other people feel that a sidekick system is that important or do they think it's unfair to solo players?

even with the sidekick system from the cox games, the experience still wasn't greater then what they got from the lower mobs that were their levels when they solo'd so i think it's still fair if they did implement it. just wanted to comment don't kno the fact on if it is in champions online.

The XP per mob might not have been greater but a massive advantage of being mentored by a higher lvl (especially if you were on a higher lvl team) is that higher lvl toons were generally more tweaked and better able to take down the mobs. So a team of lvl 50's can usually clear a map faster than a team of lvl 10's. So your XP per minute was often much higher when sidekicked even ff your XP per kill wasn't.

haha i did forget about that. But that was mostly because you were a healer, and all the high level people were always looking for a helaer. scrappers and tanks were pretty much useless because the influences and gears they had on still wasn't enough to let them take those beatins.

This was one of my favorite things about CoX. If I decided to roll a new character I could usually still hook up with my higher level friends and play. I wasn't shunned to low lever content. This is a must for this game IMO.

I too would love for the game to have something like this.

I am jsut wondering how a sidekick system could be considered unfair to solo players

I mean, really?
I like to solo. I really like to solo. I was a huge solo act in CoH. But if I wanted to do a Hami or ship raid, or a TF, or take on a giant monster in CoH you can bet I was happy to join a group, and there were several people that I usually got together with in some quantity or another for those activities. And then I went back to my soloing.

Solo players usually have one person responsible for them being solo players, and that is themselves.

What I meant by "unfair to solo players" was that it seems like other developers only excuss for gimping XP which grouping or sidekicking it that it would give people in a group a to big of XP buff so it wouldn't be worthwhile to people to solo and people would like to play solo would get upset. I agree that it is a dumb excuss, and I think that there should be buffs to XP to encourage players to play together and sidekick, becuase I know that the reason I am paying that extra $15 a month is so I would have people to game with, and hopefully with my friends who are almost always going to be a different level than me.
