One of my biggest gripes with my CoX experience was the sound. No voices, cheesy soundeffects that I still hear in other media from time to time, and horrible techno-music blaring all the time (sometimes even when I mute the game's music).

To be honest, I more times than not sat down with mute on and MY OWN music playing to keep me awake during my super-powered adventures. I'd love to hear some voiceovers for characters when you interact with them or in cinematics. As for the cheesy sound effects, I guess they could be a good or bad thing. If only we had the options of BAM! POW! BIFF! So I guess I'm just wondering what kind of sounds can we expect to hear in Champions?

By the way, I'm new here. It's nice to meet everyone :)

Techno is safe and easy. Anyway, "horrible" is in the ear of the listener. I liked some areas more than others, but found it overall to be nothing I would buy a soundtrack for nor anything I worked to avoid.
I usually had a movie, sporting event, or radio (talk or music) playing in the background anyway.

If i remember correct from Nexus' FAQ, the sounds will be a lot more fitting in CO than they were for CoX, for instance a question was asked regarding the type of music, and I think they answered with an "Epic" orchestrated style for the different area's and events, such as fighting your Nemesis or just a Big Boss (I even heard that the pace of the music changes with th status of the fight, such as the boss being heavily damaged or close to defeat)

But theres different styles for the different area's. Like Sanke gulch is supposed to have an old western feel to it. So i think it's safe to say that you probably won't be annoyed with the in game music. It may not be John Williams or Hans Zimmer, but it should fit a lot better than CoX.

Also read that there will be voice acting in some situations, like the games tutorial i hear is supposed to have voice acting from certain characters.

I'm right there with you by the way, although i wasn't necessarily annoyed by ALL of CoX music, i usually found myself listening to my own music too. Sound - in my opinion - plays a huge HUGE role in all games. and from what i've read in the past, we won't be disappointed by the sound work in the game.

Here's a quote from late last year.

We’re paying a lot of attention to sound. In fact, we just tripled the size of our audio team. Right now we’re going through the entire game seeing where we need to add more ambient sounds or voice work. The music is awesome. All of the signature villains in the game have voices associated with them and all of the critters make appropriate noises: for example, zombies groaning and demonic wolves howling. We want CO to have the dynamic experience you’d expect from a superhero game.

I feel like a dummy then, I read through most of that FAQ looking for it and I guess I just missed it :(
