Can I change my account name?

I made this account name awhile ago. Now that I see how this game is coming along and I seriously want to try it, I'd prefer to be going by the handle I prefer.

I didnt pick that at first because I was afraid since I play CoH it would be a problem and I was pretty sure I Wasnt going to stay... at the time lolz.

Anyways, is it possible?

I know i cant make a new account since my one and main email is tied to this one.

Why can't you make a new account with a different web based email account and then have your email client download any mail you get? If you dont use a actual email client then just do the above and check the mail a couple times a week ie MWF or TuTh....

I've had the same email my entire life. I've tried to make secondary emails but I always forget to check it. I check my main email several times a day. I want any updates, newsletter, etc, as soon as its released.

So is it possible to change my account name?

Well first off do you log into a web server to check your mail or do you use something like Outlook (shudder) to download it? And even if you use a web based account you might be able to have it "check" your mail for you and just dump it in a different folder. That's why I suggested it.

See the only thing is if I do love this game and stick with it for years, I want it in my main email, simple as that.

I wish a dev would respond or something here or a mod.

I might as well try. After all, if I do try then its a 99.99% chance for no but if i dont try then its a 100% no.

I seriously doubt it. Also after launch there will probably be different forums requiring your game account name to access or post. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

What if people who had accounts like ours now before CO goes live, gain a special title or badge or soemthing?

Even that aside, I like to be known as my alter ego, aka my main hero.

My account information will of course be different but as for forum display and global name, heck yeah I want my main and I havnt seen anything to show me every single one of us will have our current thing deleted and a new one when CO goes live.

Why don't you just do what Sayyan suggested and not use the old account? You don't need to remember passwords then though I'm sure you could use the same password for each one.

No offense, I just am going to avoid other email accounts at all costs. So this thread is about changing this CO account name or removing the email so I can make a brand new account with the correct name... not telling me I should make a new email and such.

It's probably possible but you won't get it done, only option is to create a new Account. If you don't want to then there's is no other option.

Captain, you didn't read what I suggested. I suggested what you suggested. Simply make a new email account and change the email on your Captain_Syn account to the new one (you need to make a new account to confirm the email is yours).

Then create a new forum account using the name you want and your main email.

Considering the account you log into the forums with is the same one you log into the website with (And the same one you log into the beta site with, though if you don't have a key already all it'll do is ask you for one), I'd say very likely. At least until launch, they might change it then.

@ Cpt Syn I don't know which mod would be best so just pick one AFTER you try the above suggestion.

Go into the profile section and change the email for this acct if that is an option. Change it to nunya@hotmail.com (as in none ya business ;)) then make a new acct.

If that doesn't work, then listen carefully. Make a Google email acct. Set it to forward you mail to your Yahoo acct automatically as in you don't have to do anything. Then you can make a new acct. here with with the Google acct. and just go on with life as normal.

One final suggestion for you. Get a email program (I recommend Thunderbird) then you can check multiple accts just by clicking one button. Just to clarify, you set it up once, continue to give out your Yahoo acct and can easily use the google acct anytime you need a diffrent acct but don't want to miss the emails.

And the reason people keep saying get a new one is most people have multiple accts or don't have a need to just have one. And with a email client its easy to keep up with mult. accts. Personally I have my ISP acct and my Google acct in Thunderbird and my work acct goes thru the Exchange server since it's a govt acct.

Ok I wasn't sure if you were a techy type or not but whatever works for you :)
If you don't see an option to change display name under My Account, then I guess the answer is no.

As to mods, I assume there is a list of members and you might be able to search for mods there. Otherwise check the the News or Announcement forums. Any forum you can't post to will by definition only have posts from Mods and thus you could get a list. Or just hit up IronAngel...she seems nice. At least she didn't fuss at me after I fussed at her for something it turns out I screwed up :)


**EDIT** Looking back it seems like I was a bit of a smartass to you. I shouldn't have done that as you didn't say anything to deserve it. I think I was channeling work where I occasionally get people calling me instead of the help desk and they are the ones that need their braincases surgically removed from the southern orifices. I am however a bit ticked off at the lack of mod response. I did message a mod and I have yet to gain a response.

I actually messaged them a few hours before your last response... I would have assumed a response by now but who knows.

I am going to give the benifit of the doubt and wait until like... next weekend.... by then if I havnt gotten a response... even if it is to say "Sorry, we can not do that" then I probably going to just walk away.... not because I cant change it but the lack of acknowledgement... but thats assuming I dont get a response.

Hopefully I do get a response soon and I hope, even if it is a "no, we cant" then they can give me a heads up and put my fears to rest about making a new account and switching the email and the "what if one gets into beta" trouble that could occur.

Anyways, I hope to get a response sooner rather than later but a response none-the-less would be appriciated.

Well I think the "problem" is that they aren't dedicated Forum Mods, they are devs popping in to check things. Now Iron Angel may be, or she may be a PR person who just happens to most of the heavy lifting. Add in people spamming her inbox with stupid **** and she may just be overwhelmed. Say she can only answer 100 pms a day. If she gets 115 one day (with you being 112) then that would put you back till the next day. But what if she has to skip a day or two, or you were number 212 that day? She might even see your pm and put it into the To-Do list, but it would easily get bumped by bigger things. Like PR work for the game, banning someone, investigating inappropriate behavior, kid getting sick......etc ad nauseam.

So I wouldn't sweat it too much.
