I did not realize the Windows 7 beta would be valid that long on a persons PC, i thought the beta trial was 60 days.
In any event I bought a system that already had windows xp pro 64 installed on it, and I am selling parts I don't want on ebay and getting newer parts.

Now to get ram, cpu, and graphics card for on the cheap.
X2 5600+ (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103234) $75
OCZ 4 gig DDR2-800 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227269) $36 post rebate
Evga GTS 250, 1 gig, Superclocked (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130470) $160 post rebate
Total for teh cheap = 271
You shouldn't need to spend more with that resolution. You could get a tri or quad core CPU, but you don't really need it right now. I'd say just save it for when you do the next core change so you don't need to do another baby step.
I'd recommend you spend the extra on a monitor that doesn't have big warnings everywhere that it might be broken, like this Acer X223Wbd (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009145) 22" 1680x1050 at $160
Oh and I almost forgot, I got this 19" widescreen monitor too because it has a few dead pixels but I think it will be fine.
AS-IS Dell SW198WFP 19in Flat Panel LCD Monitor
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=220405756618
Where do you see that it only has a few dead pixels and it's fine? I counted at least 3 very large warning signs that say it is damaged, sold as is, and may not even turn on. From what I saw there is zero guarentee that's working at all.
PS - Had ya not gone as cheap the first time you wouldn't be upgrading again so soon. We warned ya about this several times. :p

So here is what I can confirm to you that I have so far:
Windows XP Pro 64 Bit Edition (OS Disk and COA)
Gigabyte ga-m57sli-s4 (Rev 2.0) Motherboard
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2539
Now to get ram, cpu, and graphics card for on the cheap. I already have a power supply thats sli ready and a case and a dvd/cdrw, as well as a 160GB Hard Drive (Sata 300)
But I won't have specs and total costs on those parts till later:
again if rabbit or KO Gilligan or anyone else want's to chime in about parts for this motherboard please do so, remember I want to keep it under $400 total

the beta trial was 60 days but the release candidate came out this week and its valid for 1year 1month and is free to download too.
if your windows was OEM or you've made more than 4 hardware changes expect a looooong call to microsoft to convince them to reactivate btw

Woot! well I have some good news now: Im less than 1 week away from my pc being ready, and look at the deal I got on a cpu:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHz AM2+ 95W BLACK EDITION
Hyper Transports 3600MHz
L1 Cache 128KB+128KB
L2 Cache 2 x 512KB
L3 Cache 2MB
$52.00 including free shipping
From what I understand this is in essence a PhenomX4 cpu with 2 core shut off but you still have access to the cache and the faster HT
Oh and I got some other deals from new egg:
OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit
$31.99 after $20 mail in rebate
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler $19.99 )open box item (
ARCTIC COOLING 80MM FAN $7.99

That's something AMD does. From what I hear all manufacturing goes through an 'oops' factor, where some of the cores aren't working correctly. What AMD has done is, instead of throwing away the oopses, is to disable the malfunctioning/broken cores and then re-brand the CPU as x. This started with the tri-cores, which were quad cores that had an oops on one core. As to the X2 7750 specifically, that I can't say. The only thing I know about that one is it is one which has only recently appeared.
Early on this oops factor was pretty seveer for the PS3 core chip. A lot of the ones which had 6 viable cores were moved into medical and military application (where it made a ton of sales.)

hey well if the ooops factor gets me a better dual core cpu at a cheap price I can't really go wrong.

This is the internet and this is a Role Playing MMO, and Linda Lawson is a character.
