After release superteam bases are planned to be made as an update.
I am voting we should also get individual hidey holes, as every hero, heroine, villain, and villainess has their own little home. Even the robots have a place to charge up!

Yea but it's a superhero game so the option should be there. Course if there is a combat/crafting effect then balance would have to observed which would suck if your bio has you as a rich guy who paid for his own power armor say....
Still a good idea overall....

Yep. That's the one thing that really links super heroes back to their core. They're still people, and everyone has a place where they go to "get away from it all." Almost no superhero (note that I said ALMOST, not all) is exempt from this.
Hell, just to turnabout, this was even a feature in one of the oldest (and in my opinion, one of, if not THE BEST) super hero games ever:
The Amazing Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Amazing_Spider-Man_vs._The_Kingpin)
You only had 24 hours (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1ZtVwzS1KQ) (not real-time) to beat the game. In order to refill your web cartridges, get more camera film and regenerate health, you had to take Spiderman home and wait as time passed by more rapidly, but that would end up cutting into your time to beat the game, so you really had to plan things out carefully or else you would lose a lot of precious limited time from poor management and situational judgment.
If you've never played the game, I STRONGLY urge you to check it out. It's nothing short of amazing. Especially the end fights and such. To long short it; You had ONE chance to beat the game correctly at the finale. If you messed up, you were done. No extra lives, no continues. Just game over, KABOOM.
/sigh Those were the good ole' days.
.............Hmm.
/wanders off to go play Spidey vs. Kingpin

It is a computer game but it is based on heroes. Heroes, hey even normal people, have a place they live. The homeless have their places even. Even if it is a car you sleep in it is a /home/.
CoH had the base design system for guild only. Why can't we have a personal base to hang out in?

Champions Online wouldn't be the first MMORPG to allow individual, customisable player housing. I see little reason not to let players have their own private, instanced appartments, lairs or what have you in addition to the super group bases that will almost certainly be implemented at some point.

Yep yo're right. Trickster online did it. My little monster did it. as well as 2 other games b4 this i know of. It wouldn't be the 1st like you said. I think it would be a good idea for individual player mail, storage, and buddy hangout.

Ya phantasy star universe(lol) gave all players there own little home (and shop if they wanted). It would be cool to have a personal home/secret lair type of thing in CO.

As long as they don't take up actual space in the game world, I think it's a cool idea. Have them be accessible from shared doors or something though so they don't clutter up the landscape.

It would be nice. Heck maybe even instance bases.
One thing that bugged me about CoH was the base portals. You could just enter your base from any zone pretty much.... and then also you had no windows or an entrance point.
I dont know if its possible but it would be kind of cool if they had set clickable doors (and some that werent doors at all) that you can set as your single personal home.
There could be specific buildings around the city that you have an apartment in.
There could be a manhole or sewer grate you click to enter your underground base.... a cave door or something.
Maybe even a rock you click on at the beach that signals your character to walk into the ocean and then the load screen comes up and you arein your underwater base.... or maybe you have to swim down and click on a cave underwater or whatever....
But the point is, it would be nice to actually have an entrance, even for guild bases.
Even if this isnt happening.... at the very least personal bases are a must!!!

I like the idea of the settable door. The portal sort of annoyed me, it looked ugly in my opinion and the idea of EVERY supergroup having to jump into a blue flashing electrical anomaly to get home.... I didn't really like it. I want to just walk through a door or hop down a hole. Not risk poking an electrical anomaly...
Personal bases would up the fun also. Star Wars Galaxies had a housing system, but it eventually got annoying with the inactive houses.
Maybe, if we want to have placeable houses the superteam bases can have an outdoor area to build houses on an island or it could be a little dome for the techies/undersea fellows.
Actually I like it. Outdoor zone in the superteam bases would make some interesting roleplay.

personally i dont find this much of a point but because id be roaming most of the time doing crafting and the OMEGA system or Arena rather than sitting in a cave or house or summit.
i only use it for guild meeting and u can do that in party chat or guild chat or private chat.
Good for when you roleplay tho which for me will probs be more not than often

As long as we're listing MMOs that made use of a "housing" system, how about Final Fantasy XI? Your house was extremely important.

I think there should be a generic instance door on every housing type that people could chose to have as their housing entrance. You live in a mansion? Go to the posh suburbs and choose one of the mansions. Sure you'd share the outside with people, but you would still have a nice gathering location.
"Hey all lets meet at Conflict Diamond's house", you'd actually have a "house" to meet at.

ya like you have flying or something and you go up as high as you can and than it goes to a cut screen of you flying to your secret base, or with super speed run real fast in a circle :)
and than you could have nemises fights there

I didn't like this idea... o3o Sounds a little to dumbed down... We have no need for cut scenes, only manholes and doors and portals to sneak through depending on supergroup or character theme.

Yeah, I agree. Every hero should be able to have a base of some sort. If it costs money to keep it up, then a solo here will be more limited in what they can maintain than an entire super group would be.
Some people aren't team players. It's that simple. It doesn't mean that they shouldn't have access to a base feature, though. Furthermore, even if I join a group, if I am not one of the top heroes in the group I will not have permission to remodel the base. Being able to keep a personal base on the side would let everyone play with all the decoration options and the like. Sure, there may, and probably will, be some options that are to big or that they can't really afford, but at least they could play with the basic system.
The one thing I see as a possible problem, though, is that bases take up space in Cryptic's computers. That may be why they limit them to super groups. If a group requires 10 characters, even if it's 5X as large as a personal base would be, that is still only half as much information Cryptic is having to keep up with, and I suspect that most players would belong to a super group, so they not only have to store the personal bases, but all the super group bases on top of that. That is the only reason I could see that would keep it from being able to be done on some scale by individuals.

Naw, space wise shouldnt matter as far as space on the computer.
You have to be prepared for the solo SGs out there. Technically, what if everyone ingame didnt have SGs but made there own personal SGs?
Add to that, so many individual characters on a players account coudl have there own sg or base or whatnot.
Now true, not everyone is going to be in there own private sg with each and everyone of there characters but you still have to be prepared for the "what if" senerio or to be ready for large numbers doing that.
