How many powers will we be able to have? I know that we can shoot laser beams and rip chunks from the earth with super strength, But can we choose three trees?
Like:
- Energy Blast
- Martial Arts
- Regeneration
???
From what I have seen you can take each and every power throughout your career from different trees. The down side to that is you can not reach the more powerful abilities as it is a tree system, and you have to travel further into the tree to get the more powerful abilities.

There are many different power frameworks. Massively announced the following list a few days ago:
Archery
Darkness
Electricity
Fire
Force
Gadgeteering
Ice
Martial Artist: Dual Blades
Martial Artist: Fighting Claws
Martial Artist: Single Blades
Martial Artist: Unarmed
Might
Munitions
Power Armor
Sorcery
Supernatural
Telekinesis
Telepathy
Each framework has a plethora of different powers within it. You pick a starting framework and get 2 starting powers from it. From there on you can pick powers from any framework as you level. Each power has 2 possible requirements in order to take it: total powers taken within that framework or total powers taken over all. So "ultra fireball" might be unlockable once you have taken 2 fire powers, or after you have taken 6 powers from other frameworks. This system rewards players who focus on a specific type of power without forcing players to take powers they may not want in order to access higher tiered powers.
Also, according to Massively's recent podcast each time you level you gain one of three things: new power, stat points, or advantage points. Advantage points improve the powers you have, stat points increase your base attributes like strength or endurance, and new powers are pretty self explanatory.
I think the last Ask Cryptic mentioned that once you are the max level (40) you will have been able to select 14 different powers. To get a good feel on how the frameworks are broken up into many powers, you can see a small smattering of fire powers listed in the fansite kit here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v716/CandorLupis/Champions/Fire_Powers-Large.jpg).
Hope that helps!
Ok so 14, did I understand correctly that the framework is a tree system, requiring a player to travel down a tree to unlock the more powerful abilties in the tree?

Kind of. Think of taking powers in just one framework as a shortcut to the other powers in that framework. Taking only fire powers might let you learn the most powerful fire move at level 20, whereas a character who has taken NO fire powers would have to wait until level 30 to learn it. (mind you the actual numbers on the level requirements are made up, but I think you get what I am going for)
Hope that helps, if there is anything else you need clarified just let me know!
EDIT: Heck, here are the posts from Cryptic explaining it:
Will powers in power frameworks be sequentially grouped (meaning you need powers x and y to get power z) or bound by level, or will they be freely choosable? (Ex: choosing Fireimps at level 2 and then working on upgrading that till the end game). (andrewvanmarle)
None of the above. Powers in individual frameworks are grouped into tiers, to unlock the powers in a tier, you need to buy a certain number of powers within that framework, or a greater number of powers from anywhere in the game.
Tier 0: no prereqs
Tier 1: at least 1 in category, or any 2
Tier 2: at least 3 in category, or any 5
Tier 3: at least 5 in category, or any 8
End builder powers do count as in category, but don’t count towards the “any.” Movement powers don’t count.

Ok yeah that is what i meant, as an example say they have a nuclear tree, the most powerful abitlity is atom bomb. A person that has never picked a nuclear power would have to start with a base ability in the tree like a minor radiation abitlity, they can not just pick atom bomb. Makes sense if they did not set it up as a tree system it would reduce the number of players that select powers from the same tree. Everyone would just grab 14 different top teir powers.

Not quite. Using your example someone who had never picked a radiation power could still take Atom Bomb, but would have to wait until a higher player level than someone who had focused on radiation powers.

Ah ok they made it so if you take more powers somewhere else you can still pick the top teir. That is fine as well. It is still a pre-requisit in my example i posted a worst case senario where no powers had prereqs.
