99.99999% chance it will work for both, probably Windows 7 too.

I know this is a newbie forum and all but really? Only moronic devs would make a game exclusive to vista. And nothing has ever been exclusive to XP.

It will work on both just like the vast majority of softwear.

One of the media playtesters said that it ran in Windows 7. It should work in XP and Vista.

One of the recent interviews said it ran smoothly on Windows 7. And they'd be a little dumb to make it noncompatible with xp or vista considering how many people. As someone who still runs XP (And probably won't upgrade for some time after Windows 7 is released due to lack of funds) I'll just remain grateful that Microsoft has no say in it so they can't force them to make it vista only in some misguided effort to make gamers upgrade, ala Halo 2.

<-- still a little miffed at Microsoft over that one, even if that wasn't the real reason.

XP is dead, let it die in piece.

+you wont need it ever again with window 7 as it has a xp virtual machine built in.

Some of us can't afford the ridiculous prices Microsoft charge for their operating systems, ok?

XP is not dead... Microsoft recently said they were extending support for XP at least through 2010, doesn't sound dead to me... XP has incredible performance, and runs on pretty much any machine today. The only benefit I ever saw from Vista was... um... hm... uh... ... let me get back to you on that one. Vista is a new OS that sports no worthwhile benefit. If it was shipped on your machine, great, there's not really anything wrong with it, just the fact that it has no upgrades from XP besides not allowing you to run some older applications and having an incredibly annoying UAC, oh and the pretty new interface.

Oh and as for exclusive to Vista... here's a little history on why this won't happen:

Shadowrun was a big title game that was being created by FASA Studios. Microsoft picked up the publishing rights and since it was going to be one of the first DirectX10 games, they made it exclusive to Windows Vista. Well, five months after the game was released FASA studios died.

it was going to be one of the first DirectX10 games

ya see thats where you logic dies using DX10 automatically limits you to vista most of the people who moan about DX10 games being buggy are XP users using a hacked version of DX which just doesn't work properly.

But the main reason Shadowrun failed was it was crap! Take into account FASA studio's designed for a system that hadn't reached critical mass and you blame Vista? 2 years on the amount of people with access to Vista is much higher and DX10 graphics cards are becoming more common mainly due to the fact Nvidia has been releasing rebranded 8800's for what 3 years now?

With 7 comes DX11 and its physics and other abilities and that will not be easy to hack into XP but IS being made available to Vista so its time to stop your sour graping Vista and XP are now pretty much level in speed (though DX10 games are occasionally getting a few FPS extra sometimes XP gets more so it balances). Most peoples complaints at Vista come from the idiots at Intel who pressured Microsofts marketing team to allow sub par parts to be branded capable of using vista.

I say let it die as XP has only damaged the rapid progression that we use to enjoy, ie cpu architecture has been 64bit based for a very long time, after a flakey start vista 64bit is solid so why limit your pc with 32bit operating system, and a lousy 3.25gb of ram, its time people moved on....
Xp might be solid now, but upto service pack 2 it was far from it and this is operating system that is about 10yrs old now, you stick with it lol Becouse its far to low for going on my rig.

Bah, Vista's fine, I've had no problems with it for over a year on two PCs. Every OS needs tweaking, a little tweaking on Vista turns off UAC, reduce shadowcopy footprint, SP1 update, and you're ok.

The issue with people who run Vista and encounter difficulties are mainly on their machines, too low spec to run on the OS, and not too tech savvy as not to be able to tweak Vista to their content. Don't blame the OS if you don't know how to utilize it properly. Don't blame an Aston Martin for running slow, if you only have a narrow dirt road to run it on.

Also, if you play DX10 games, like Crysis, Devil May Cry 4, and other upcoming titles (not too many as of yet, but enough to warrant DX10), you'd certainly opt for Vista.

My PC's in my sig, my friend's system, also on Vista 64, is running on: Athlon s939 4200 x2 @2.6ghz, 2gb DDR500, 8800gt 512, 160gb 7200rpm HDD, Vista 64 Ultimate...and he's running the OS fine just like mine, same tweaks as I did.

I agree WinXP is dead and I had to can my system because of all the damn crashes and other problems.

Also I never thought I would ever catch myself saying this since I use to say "I would never buy Vista because of what I have read on the internet".

Vista 64 bit ultimate works great on my new system and I love it. Currently only one program is giving me trouble. Fuel of War will install and run but will not patch and I do not blame Vista for my troubles. I blame the game makers because of their lack of foresight and help on their useless website.

So concluding I think CO will most likely work with Win XP on its minimum setting while maximum settings will only be available to Vista users.

You might be wondering how I have come to this conclusion. Well simply look at the in-game screen-shots and ask yourself this. Can you currently get that with your XP system without any slow down?

MS-DOS baby if the pnp game came out in there then the OS of the time is good enough ;)

To commemorate the rich history of the Champions game which was first published in 1981 I think Champions Online should be released as a MS-DOS 1.0 game for 8086 based machines on roughly 500 5.25" floppy disks. ;)
