View Full Version : Are the frameworks divided?

Are the frameworks in the game divided into different sections? For example, in fire you could have a melee DPS section, a ranged DPS section, a tanking section and a control section. Is this planned or will it be a pick 'n' mix sort of thing?

From looking at the powers in the fan site builder there are no set "dps" or "tanking" frameworks, the powers available in each framework are a mixture though naturally some frameworks will have more buffing abilities than others. ~

In the screenshots from one of the recent interviews (I forget which one) the powers under the framework are shown as being grouped under simple categories like Offense, Defense, Pets, Control and Support.

I missed the screenshots, but that would make sense. Though I imagine not all frameworks will have every category.

The main thing is for people not to get too caught up in matching their origin to a powerset/framework of the same name. A power armor guy could build his "suit" just outta costume pieces and then use Gadgeteering to make his powers. Or a Avatar of the sun god who wants to be a blaster could instead of Fire use Darkness and change the hue of the powers to a bright yellow and go to town.

This part doesn't bother me at all. And since you can mix and match with some limitations, I think it will work out just peachy.

Sure, but they could also do it straight up and splash some stuff in from other frameworks.
I could build a guy that has a suit of power armor that uses force-based powers. If I did this, I would take the force framework because the powers are more appropriate. The power armor framework is much more a mixed bag of powers.
Don't consider causes, consider effects. Making a darkness framework user with colored powers to represent a supernatural fire user would not, to me, be as satisfying as choosing a bunch of powers from the fire framework and just calling yourself supernatural.

Just don't confine yourself to a single framework or origin-type mindset. Just because electricity isn't grouped under the magic banner doesn't mean that a character that considers themselves to have a magic origin shouldn't have any electric powers, or that someone that takes some of them can't write up that they have a magic origin.

Yeah, I'm extremely happy they put in custom frameworks, as my main guy that I want to make is mostly about time manipulation, so I'll probably be pulling stuff from a whole bunch of the regular frameworks. I'll probably end up mostly with sorcery, though.

Great to hear that they've also got different sorts of 'sections' in each framework, means we'll be more able to make the type of character we want to. Any chance those screen shots showed about how many powers were in a framework? I know we get to pick 14, I'm sort of wondering how many we get to pick from, though.

yeah My alter ego from playing champions for 20 years is a space/time manipulator. I suspect to have many proto types before i settle on a finall build in the game// using alot of different powers acoss the frame works.. the using roles to swotch between needs
