Future Dynamics promises to revolutionize innovation in a city whose very foundation pushes the limits of modern technology. Lead by Dr. Nicolaus Volta this state of the art research facility is looking to hire the best and brightest minds encompassing all fields of science. If you have the drive and vision to stretch the boundaries of knowledge apply now.

Team Info

Future Dynamics is an enclave of scientists that develop some of the most advanced defensive technology on earth. Unbeknown to the public, every one of its brilliant minds is also a superhero. The "business" is run on the first three floors of a skyscraper in downtown Millennium City. The "team" operates out of the sub-basement 100ft below the building. The goal of Future Dynamics is to create a community of friends who enjoy all the aspects of Champions Online multi player gaming. Our goals will include:

1. Being very involved with the "crafting" system (we ARE a technology company). I envision this being an important part of the organization.
2. Facilitating medium to heavy role-playing.
3. Organizing grouping/teaming up for those interested.

Interested members do not have to be tech heroes. I only ask that the characters alter ego have a significant scientific background. If you think you're interested in a team that may be a little different, but hopefully very fun post away! I'll be posting some more background information on my character in the next few days.

Thanks for the well wishes Dread. Looks like it may be tough finding interested players, but I love the concept and my character so much I'm going to run with it and keep on organizing. You know what they said on Field of Dreams! ;)

Oh, I totally remember that movie! "He had a bat named Rosebud?" Not sure I see the relevance, but whatever fills your Twinkie is cool by me. ;)

I always make robot/android heroes, so Sentinels Prime needs to be in a coalition with Future Dynamics so I can has access to best most special discount parts.

LOL! Sounds like a plan Trike.

Here's the background info on Future Dynamics CEO/CTO Nicolaus Volta aka Professor Palladium:

Codename: Professor Palladium
Alter Ego: Nicolaus Volta
Height/Weight: 5'10"/170lbs
Hair/Eye Color: Salt and Pepper/Grey
Age: 27

Personality: A brilliant mind with a sharp wit. Nicolaus is just as comfortable in the boardroom as he is in the lab. His personable hands-off management approach has created an environment at Future Dynamics where there is almost no turnover in personnel. Although he is not an athlete by any stretch of the imagination, Nicolaus is a fairly fit man and enjoys winding down the day practicing his fencing skills.

History: The Volta surname has been at the cutting edge of scientific discovery for generations. The family's latest wunderkind the accomplished physicist and engineer Nicolaus Volta shot to the forefront of the contemporary scientific community. His latest and most renowned invention, the Micromax cold fusion generator, was supposed to revolutionize the clean energy field. Unfortunately Nicolaus was never able to reproduce the effect. To help finance his future efforts Nicolaus modified the one working prototype to power an array of miniaturized defensive equipment used as a demonstrator for his company's myriad of offensive and defensive capabilities. The Palladium Bot was unveiled at technology expos worldwide and Volta's small laboratory, Future Dynamics, stock skyrocketed.

Nicolaus being the consummate business man did not rest. He invested a large percentage of the company's new revenue stream into the second phase of his marketing strategy. In less than a year a massive underground technical facility was completed. During the ribbon cutting ceremony Nicolaus announced the formation of Future Dynamics' news S-OPS branch-the company's in-house super team. This group of heroes would protect Millennium City from the same menaces that were the very cause of its creation backed entirely by Future Dynamics patented technology.

The much publicized move was celebrated by the city government and Nicolaus began the search for his team leader. It wasn't long before he realized only one man would fit the bill if he wanted it done right...himself. Never one to leave the dirty work to others he fashioned a new identity to become the spokesman and face for his newest branch. The existing Micromax harness was upgraded and customized for him. Nicolaus would lead his team from the front as Professor Palladium.

Powers: Professor Palladium derives all of his ablilities from the cold fusion powered energy harness & gauntlets that are a prominent part of his costume. Palladium wields impressive thermal energy powers consisting of damage shields, thermal energy projection, and thrust assisted flight. The equipment also provides an extensive array of sensor equipment. Since Nicolaus constantly experiments with new technology the harness is used to test some of Future Dynamics pre-prototype capabilities thus providing Professor Palladium some undocumented, temporary abilities.

Immediate openings at Future Dynamics:

Chief Operations Officer (COO): Every hero team needs one person with extensive strategic and tactical skill to run operations smoothly and efficiently. Future Dynamics is looking to fill this most important position with such a leader. If organizing strike forces, prioritizing area operations, and managing equipment resources is your specialty, Superhero Operations (S-OPS) branch needs you.

Headhunter: Great opportunity for an individual interested in leading talent acquisition for Future Dynamics' S-OPS branch. You will be responsible to generate a pipeline of candidates that meet both the scientific and heroic prerequisites for contributing to our organization. Solely accountable for your own results, you must be focused and target driven and accustomed to a degree of autonomy.

Interested applicants please post your desire for information/application below.

OOC: In the next few weeks I will be setting up a website and forums for the team. It would be great to have some like-minded heroes interested in this concept to collaborate with. Bust out your favorite closet scientist superhero and apply now!

Hey Prof,

Just curious. Is Professor Palladium a character you created from the PnP Champions game and are converting to CO, or is he a new creation?

I've actually been looking for more of a techy SG. My character Frank Wolfe III (http://forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?t=3605) is more of a gadgeteer type character except he gets most of his gear from his best friend who happens to be an inventor and CEO of a Weapons Distribution/Engineering corporation. So idk if that qualifies but Id love to join.

It's pretty much the chicken or egg thing Dread. I created the concept for CO but since CO isn't out yet I built him in the Hero System to flesh him out. I should have some artwork for the Professor soon too!

Frank_Wolf I like the idea behind your character. Do you have a short origin/background write-up for him? It might be a cool storyline delving into the possible conflict of interest he could run into working for Future Dynamics while still receiving equipment from his friends corporation.

Background/History:
Born in Chicago, Illinois to 27 year old Franklin Wolfe Jr. (Baker) and 23 year old Jillian McRoberts (Elementary School Nurse) on August 31st, 1971. He was raised an only child in a middle class household in a minority middle class neighborhood in the Southside of Chicago. As a child, he was highly intelligent and made stellar marks in school as well as developing into a gifted athlete and swimmer. At the age of 13, while closing up his father's bakery store, Wolfe witnessed the murder of his father as a masked assailant shot him 4 times in the legs and torso, bleeding to death before the paramedics could arrive. It has been said that Wolfe has never fully recovered from his father's murder. The stress of raising a household as a single widowed mother forced Jillian Wolfe into chain smoking, up to 5 packs a day. In 1988, Jillian Wolfe succumbed to lung cancer at the age of 40.

After being placed into foster care, Wolfe III dropped out of high school and joined the U.S. Navy where he quickly rose in ranks. In 1989, he opted to join the U.S. Navy Seals and was one of the youngest in history to become a Navy Seal. In the Seals, Wolfe III trained as an elite sniper, becoming one of the most accurate and efficient marksman in his platoon. There he would also befriend two fellow Seals, Liam "Burger" Riegelsberg and Frederick "Chico" Guiterez. He would serve in the Gulf War as a Navy Seal Sniper and Advanced Weapons Tactician from 1990-1993 and become one of the most decorated heroes of the war, having over 45 kills. After being honorably discharged and awarded the Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, Navy Cross and Navy Distinguished Medal, Wolfe III moved to Los Angeles, California where he and his friend "Chico" Guiterez would work in the L.A. Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.). Liam Riegelsberg, at the behest of his family, left the Seals and studied at the United States Naval Academy where he would get his Doctorates in Physics and Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. After graduating top of his class, Dr. Liam Riegelsberg used the inheritance he had received from his grandparent's vast fortune from telecommunications and started a weapons engineering/distributor corporation that eventually would be military funded. They dealt in advanced tech/bio warfare as well as counter-intelligence. He named the corporation "Quantum Tech Industries".

Frank Wolfe III and Frederick "Chico" Guiterez flourised in L.A. S.W.A.T. and eventually were promoted. Wolfe III became Sergeant while Guiterez became the youngest Senior Hostage Negotiator in the state. From 1994-2005, Wolfe III's S.W.A.T. team had the lowest percentage of fatalities/injured hostages in the country when dealing with high risk arrest warrants, hostage rescue and/or heavily armored combatants. However on July 4th, 2006, 25 unidentified armed soldiers took over the Rosenthaul National Bank in downtown Los Angeles. These soldiers called themselves the "Nationalist Liberation Movement" and they took 30 hostages, one being the daughter of Los Angeles Mayor Douglas Dover's daughter, Susan Dover. The NLM placed shrapnel-filled vests on the hostages that were made to resemble Kevlar body armor. Within minutes Wolfe III's team were outside the bank as well as numerous local news station helicopters that patrolled the air. Wolfe III sent in his prized negotiator to hear the demands of the guerilla army inside. The NLM wanted the release and safe extrication of Rami Espenanza, a prisoner housed at the United States Penitentiary, Victorville, located in San Bernadino County, California. Rami Espenanza, better known as "Cotiara" was an internationally feared master assassin/espionage-expert that frequently worked for the global terrorist organization VIPER. In return, Guiterez asked for the release of one of the hostages, whom they agreed would be Susan Dover. As Guiterez and Susan Dover walked out of the bank towards the medical staff, the vests detonated, instantly shredding Dover and Guiterez as well as ten other officers In a fit of blind fury and grief, Wolfe III ordered the attack on the bank and charged, resulting in a deadly gunfight that not only decimated the NLM but also killing all but three of the hostages. Twenty additional officers and S.W.A.T. died in the frantic fray of gunfire. Wolfe III had not only utterly failed the mission, he caused over $5 million in resulting damage as well as losing the life of his best friend. On that day, Wolfe III swore revenge on VIPER.

At Frederick "Chico" Guiterez's funeral, Frank Wolfe III and Dr. Liam Riegelsberg reconciled after not seeing each other for almost 15 years. Wrought with grief over the death of his friend, Wolfe III told Dr. Riegelsberg that he would quit S.W.A.T. and soon go into self-imposed exile. Dr. Riegelsberg implored Wolfe III to come with him back to Quantum Tech Industries headquarters in Syracuse, New York. After a couple days thought, Wolfe III decided to take up Dr. Riegelsberg offer and flew up to Syracuse, New York where he met his long time friend.

At QTI HQ, Dr. Riegelsberg displayed the real purposes of the company. Dr. Riegelsberg had been secretly, in conjunction with the U.S. government, using the resources and technology of the QTI as an international counter-terrorism organization. This project was codenamed Terra Freedom. Dr. Riegelsberg asked Wolfe III to be a head operant in the organization as he knew Wolfe's skill and determination would prove him to be a perfect candidate. Dubbed "Agent Sabre" for secret missions, Frank Wolfe III became the leading co-op in the battle against the VIPER organization and many other terrorist militias and criminal syndicates across the globe. Since August 2007, Wolfe III has been granted acess to highly advanced technology in weaponry, vehicles, espionage, and counter-intelligence. Although his vigilante, "shoot now, ask questions never" type attitude often conflicts with the integrity of the mission, his elite training in special operations and numerous martial arts prove him to be a valuable asset for Project Terra Freedom.

Wow! That's some serious detail. It seems like he is more soldier than scientist which doesn't fit the team concept at first glance, but we do have one position open for Chief Operations Officer (which is basically the field combat leader position). Wolfe's concept would work perfect for that spot.

Hey guys. I noted you were listed under the RP thread and I am intrigued by the concept. What level of RP do you intend? I am an RPer above all else and it seems to me that a superhero themed game is an excellent place for RP. I'm really interested in helping out a team who's first focus is RP. Sure I like to get more powerful and play the missions and such, I just like to RP it all out and am interested in a team that wants to focus on this also.

Not that it is for me to say right now, but I was thinking about your concept and about scientist creating major technological break throughs might want some "muscle" for protection against the villians that would surely be drawn to their items. So it would seem to me a soldier type might actually fit if you had this type of "wing" in the group. The security wing or something. Would also make for an interesting story to have heroes that can "showcase" the wares of the company out in the real world...could be played alot of ways. Have a security wing with a Security Chief or some such, Director of Security or something. Just throwing that out. :) Then you can have the company side focused on the company side.

Anyway..as to my character concept here is what I have. I'm still working on a bio though. Dr. Joshua Trast was a neuro surgeon before being recruited by Gamma Group, a secret organization chartered by the National Security Agency. The Gamma Group focused mostly on studying dimensional and "other" worldly travel, including travel to alien planets. They had devices that enabled teams of people to travel through temporary rifts and return. The purpose was to advance the study of alien cultures to see how they might benefit humans. Unknown to Dr. Trast they were also advancing another agenda. Gamma Group had gone rogue and felt that the only way to protect the earth and humans was to destroy all aliens that posed even a remote threat. They also began to believe that super and meta humans posed a threat to true humanity and began to covertly target supers, especially any found on their travels. At one point an operative was brought back through a rift wounded with severe head injuries. He and his team had recovered some artifacts and alien technology. Unknown to them however they also brought back something else. Two alien entities. The entities were in an incorporeal form, their host forms having been destroyed by the returning team. They immediately sought out new hosts. Dr. Trast was called in to help with the operative who had been wounded. As he worked on him, the entities found their intended hosts. One entered the body of Dr. Trast and the other the wounded operative. Though Dr. Trast felt a growing headach he noticed little difference at this point. Though the surgery seemed to suddenly begin going better than it should have. He finished and returned to his quarters. There a battle began.

The entity attacked the minds of their victims, intending to destroy the will and minds of Dr. Trast and the wounded operative. Neither entity found the result that it had hoped for. Because of the damage to the operative's mind and the weakened state of the entity due to it having been too long without a host, it drove the operative quite insane, but could not fully take over. Instead it found itself trapped and pulled into the operative's damaged mind. It could heal the damage, but because it had miscalculated the compatibility of the host body and the human's training it could not accomplish the take over. Instead if melded with the operatives own nature, but changed it drastically. It heightened certain areas while destroying other completely and being destroyed and changed in the process. The end result was something human and alien, but quite mad. The wounds were healed near instantly, but the mind was fractured beyond all repair. Still there was a melding of will also and the new entity kept one key piece, it's hatred for the humans that had killed it, and it's paranoia and fear of the aliens the operative believed would try and harm earth. The entity remembered that it wanted revenge against the humans and it also remembered it's partner, Xanjas, the entity that had entered Joshua Trast. Though where before he remembered vaguely a friendship and feeling of love (they had been brothers), it now felt fear and a need to destroy it. Everyone was a threat now and everyone was beneath him. He was superior and would destroy all of the threats, but he knew this group of humans was dangerous, so he did not hatch his plan immediately. He would wait for a good moment. He would need resources. His cunning, melded with the cunning of the human, senses and brain function heightened, he knew he needed to build and to learn. The human's brain was untapped, it's potential well beyond what they knew, but not the alien. It new it could use the host and heighten his mental capacity and abilty. Not not his host...himself...he was something else...something new...better.

During this same time another struggle was going on. The alien Xanjas had entered into Dr. Trast and began to try and takeover his new host. However he was not prepared for the Dr's mind and of course had had little time like his brother to check for compatibility. Something had been dormant in Trast's mind and when Xanjas entered it and tried to take over it triggered. A hidden ability that neither the alien or Trast had been aware of. To Xanjas, the human Dr was an enemy. The humans had killed his friends and family and stolen from them. He needed to take over this host and avenge his family. He did not find malice in the Dr's mind however and this confused him. As he studied it he found a genuine desire to help people. This was not an evil mind. Why had this race come to his home and attacked them? Xanjas and his people were a peaceful race. The confusion, the strong will of the doctor and the latent ability in his mind all came together in an explosion of sorts. One not seen, but certainly felt by the doctor who found himself on his knees screaming in agony, clutching his head. When other doctors and soldiers were able to get into his room they found him crying out incoherently in a language unknown to any of them. They restrained Trast but he was in no condition to fight them. His screaming and babble gave way to a coma of sorts. He lay there staring straight at the ceiling, unblinking. Xanjas however was not destroyed or changed as his brother, Dragas, had been. He also wasn't able to take complete control. He found a place in Dr. Trast's mind and took it over, but Dr. Trast's consciousness was also there in another part of his mind. The dormant abilty had allowed a place for both Xanjas and Trast to coexist...but who would be in control.

The battle continued, but it was purely silent. Neither side could gain any upper hand. Trast with this no longer dormant ability had more control over his mind that he previously had. He was able to pull knowledge from the alien entity, but so too was Xanjas. For Xanjas' part he was able to greatly augment Trast's mind. He could see that he could use the mind to use his own powers which were vast, but he could not do it without Trast's assistance. So it changed it's tactic. It made contact with Trast mentally. Instead of trying to control they spoke. Trast learned what the Gamma Group was really about, and Xanjas learned that Trast had not known the extent of the damage this group had caused. An accord was reached. They agreed to share Trast's body. Once this decision was made, Trast came out of his coma. He felt normal in all ways save he could sense always the presence of Xanjas who could not leave his new home or he would no unrepairable damage to Trast's mind.

This is part of the story and basically covers the hero and villian being born so to speak. Basically the end result here is that Joshua is a jekyl and hyde sort. Trast has no real abilities save for heightened mental senses, intelligence, and reflexes but when he allows Xanjas to take control the alien is able to wield great mental and telekinetic powers. These he can use for healing, mind control, object control, etc. Basically a mentalist/defender sort. Though Xanjas/Joshua are just at the beginning of realzing their true abilities when working in conjunction with each other. Which is a great way to start a level 1 and grow from there. Hehe. Story wise I'll be fleshing out both villian and hero more. One of Joshua's goals will be to protect all life and to create items and perhaps other things to help supers, humans, and aliens. So this is the scientist/doctor portion. Hopefully this is fleshed out enough to make sense. I kinda developed it as I wrote. Thoughts?

Targe
05-21-2008, 11:58 PM
Statement: Designation Targe. Ex-organic known as Garret Jackson. With a doctorate in Engineering and Physics and an expert gadgeteer.

Query: Is there yet an intended symbol for this party of perceptive pinnacles?

Secret Identity: Doctor Garret Jackson
Age: 27
Height: Originally 6'1" Currently5'8"
Weight: Originally 198lbs. Currently 500 lbs.
Species: Originally Human Currently Android

Costume and appearance:
Anthro-X Android Frame with acute sensory "skin", and Beta Bucklers.

Targe, when not using his powers, appears to be covered in a jet black cloth with a slight sheen to the fibers, from head to toe. Where eyes would be are unlit lenses.
The Beta Bucklers, which appear as large high tech bracers that encircle the fore arms from elbow to wrist and partially over the back of the hand, have two right scalene triangles atop; approximately 3 inches in height and 5 inches in length, back to back at the right angle.
When the Beta Bucklers are equipped and activated, the the scalene triangles separate approximately 1 inche from each other, revealing a palm sized piece of what appears to be indigo quartz. Also, Targe's black cloth skin displays pulsating bright cerulean energy lines, electronics, and scintillating square patterns across it's surface. Likewise, Targe's lenses become alight with a bright cerulean cybernetic glow.

Powers

As Dr. Garret Jackson, Targe was well known for his engineering and physics expertise as well as his passion for invention. He is able to produce electronic devices from even the most mundane parts. After his fateful accident, he holds a machines superiority in strength and durability compared to a squishy human. Yet, the real powers do not begin until he equips his experimental accessories. The Beta Bucklers possess the ability to produce shields of an energized semi-transparent deep purple that are paper thin, yet incredibly solid and dense. At a 12 on the Moh scale, it is stronger than diamond. The shields can be made to range in size from six inches up to six feet in diameter, with the density increasing and decreasing respectively.
The scalene triangles can also be swiveled into a position that focuses the shield energy into a short "blades" that appear similar to falchions.

History

Garret was always taking things apart. Learning how something works was his one true love, a trait that took him far in his engineering and physics career. With his double major and minor in volcanology, he was a very busy man during school. After he achieved his PhD, he became busier, hired by the government for research and development for defensive technologies.
Years past and little progress was made aside from the improved capabilities of Kevlar and tank armors. Fearing for his position and recognition, he began investigating claimed discoveries he might have originally discounted as fallacious.
One discovery proved well- a new material, unnamed and uninvestigated, appeared to react to varying waves of radiation in peculiar ways. Alpha-waves caused intense vibrations of various tones that nearly shattered the glass case separating Garret from the test chamber. Gamma-waves incurred an elaborate light show that varied from firework like dazzlers to blinding all encompassing white light. Beta-waves seemed to change the shape of the material- usually causing it to gain a mercurial state, though sometimes becoming an astoundingly dense perfect sphere. Further investigation in to Beta waves revealed a balancing wave length that allowed it to project an energy emission that maintains high densities while remaining malleable to the operators whims.

From this he was able to create the Beta Bucklers. Bracers that safely house Beta-wave generators and the mineral composition that produces the miraculous energy.

After his first creation, he stowed it secretly away, waiting to unveil it so it could be shown along side his new invention for use with the mineral as it's power source- a fully operational android with the adaptive processing capabilities. Though not a full fledged AI, the closest yet. All he required was more time to acquire the necessary data and programming.

Unfortunately, Garret had run out of time. The higher ups had gotten wind Dr. Jackson was hiding a recent invention. They decided to inquire the good doctor by sending remote combat droid, only to scare Garret into revealing his discovery. What they did not count on was Garret's accidental critical strike to the droid's processor, causing a malfunction in it's programming and it going haywire. The Garret Jackson was pummeled and thrown about to near death when finally the machine ceased functioning.

Bloodied, bruised, battered, and broken Garret was teetering on unconsciousness. He couldn't tell why, but he knew his body would not survive, even if the medics came at the instant he thought to do what he did. He attempted to imprint his mind digitally.

Garret's world became a swirl of information. All that existed were ones and zeros. On and off. Black and white. It seemed an eternity passed as the quintessential essence that is so fleeting, the piece of existence that made Garret Jackson who he was, is, and will be, attempted to discern what it all meant.

Then, light. color. Blurs. humming. murmuring. Clear vision, though oddly pixelated every so often, he was looking up at the ceiling of his lab, his assistant was standing over him. She was saying something, but it seemed muffled. Then it became clear, but with an electronic tinge.
"Doctor Jackson? Can you hear me? Are you in there Garret?" She questioned desperately. He nodded. Or tried to, he felt like his entire body weighed a ton. He blinked, but his eyelids did not move. He couldnt feel a thing! he moved his eyes up and down trying to convey an affirmative.
"Are you in pain?", he responded with a left then right then left eye shake.
"Let me get your servos up and running. I can't believe you did what you did. I mean I can see why you did it, but I'd never have the courage to do something like that. I'd have probably let myself die...", she always rambled on like that, one of the only things he disliked about her, but- wait, servos? what he did? DIE? The mind imprint!
It was then his assistant activated the servos, he sat straight up and looked down to the hands, his hands, of the Android he had been working on for so long.

He knew he could not let the government have what he had created- their flagrant disregard for safety and lack of ethical utilization of technology made that apparent to him. He stole his Beta bucklers, the android's acute sensory "skin", and himself, hoping to salvage some kind of life on the run from the military and as a synthetic life-form.

To join i wouldn't necessarily have to have tech powers would I? Because, I was aiming for a more so mystical witch type player. LoL. Wait, I do have one idea. Idk how well it would fit into you're whole scheme. But I could have some unknown force of power and your "team" of scientist could be working to figure out where this force within me originates. And the reason as to why I am letting you is because you rescued me from some seemingly inevitable death where I immediately swore my alliance with you. Well? I'm sure that was terrible but tell me what you think. I just am a super lover of RP and would love to be in your Group. :D

I think this character may fit here.r

He is a blind scientist with degrees in Quantum Mechanics and Psychology. His heightened ability is the power to project sound waves. He can vary the strength of the sonics, thereby giving him either the ability to 'see' the objects his sonic waves bounce off of, or destroy them.

His name is Dr. Price Sebastian, aka Dr. Bellows and he wears a white business suit, sometimes with a white trenchcoat and ,of course, carries a cane.

Name: Dr. Price Sebastian, degrees in Quantum Mechanics and Psychology.
Alias(s): Dr. Bellows
DOB: 08/31/1971
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 200 lbs.
Hair Color:White
Eye Color: Blue
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Nationality: American
Spouse: None

Powers/Abilities: Sonic abilities. Can project high powered sonic waves in a localized or conical application. Uses low level projection as method of 'seeing' and often picks up more detail than the 'sighted'
Disciplined in Jeet Kune Do and often uses his cane in combat situations. Mostly a long range fighter though.

Psychological/Personality Assessment: A Calm demeanor, highly intelligent, extremely curious with a logical mind.

Background/History:TBD

what if future dynamics hired your character for the knowledge of the occult he/she knows? I'm sure a defense tech group would love to have an expert in such a field, just in case, not to mention someone who can manifest unknown primal energies to consult about many theorized concepts. Imagine if we met someone with force powers and after inquiry and experimentation we found the force to be a manipulation of the casimir effect.

Hell, your character could need access to to the highly advanced laboratories Future Dynamics has for your "wtich brews" and other mystic alchemical investigations.

Remember that high sorcery and future tech are near synonymous when it comes to the story telling medium.

Actually I was planning to post this character earlier but then the thread got buried. Anyways here is my character. Let me know if it is OK or if there is a position in mind.

NAME: Eduard Teller-Holiday
ALIAS: Fast Fission
AGE: 15
ABSTRACT: Mutant speedster with self designed technolgical armor giving protection and radiation based ranged attacks.
DEGREES: Electrical Engineering(PhD) Mechanical Enigeering (PhD) Nuclear Physics (PhD - currently Postdoc in Fast Breeder Reactor Containment) Compututer Engineering (PhD) ect...

BACKGROUND: Eddie was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Not only is he an heir to a famous hotel chain, but he has both good looks and brains and knows it. The stereotypical spoiled rich boy. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with an extreme form of ADHD. Dispite this he excelled in all his classes because he could learn things before he got bored. He has a special aptiitude for nuclear and radiation sciences. He first attracted Future Dyamanics' attention with his paper "Methods of Harnessing the Electro-weak Force in a Strontium-90 Crystal Substrate" which lead to a full time position with Future Dynamics, a scholarship to MIT, a cease and desist order from the EPA, and first place in the Clarke County Science Fair (Fifth Grade division)

As he approached adolecence, it was discovered that his "extreme ADHD" was actually the begining of the manifestation of his mutant accelerated metabolism and super speed. Not only can he move many times faster than normal, but he thinks faster as well. Coupled with his impressive intellect it makes for a powerful combination. Projects that take a team of the best scientist years, he can do alone in weeks or days. Superspeed helps not only in the research but also the assembly and delivery phase, reducing the time rquired by orders of magnitude. He earned his first PhDs at the age of 12 in physics and nuclear engineering, and has been collecting degrees at an astonishing rate since then, specializing in the hard sciences. However, his ability on picking up social cues and conventions is not nearly as impressive.

Unfortunately, he is extremely impatient, often bypassing safegaurds and regulations he feels are piontless. He often fails to understand why people do not understand concepts that are to him blatantly obvious. Eddie has no tolerance for fools, (Which is just about everybody) and even less tolerance for people who fail to recognize that he is right and they are wrong. (Which covers just about everybody else.) While brilliant he has no attention to detail and does not always think things through.

He considers himself primarilary a reseacher and only goes adventuring when bored.
Of course, he gets bored alot.

QUOTES: "Oh Yah, Controls rods. I was gonna get around to installing them."

PET PEEVES: The fact his sister, Athens Holiday is a famous media vixen dispite being (and I quote) "a vacous idiot whose only acomplishment in life is one well-known but poorly made home video." All while Eddie does not get one iota of the recognition or respect he feels he truly deserves.

INTERVIEW EXCERPT "The name is Fast Fission. Ummm you know... Fast fission as in the fission that occurs when a heavy atom absorbs a high-energy AKA "fast" neutron, and splits, as contrasted with a thermal neutron... you do know what are fast neutrons? As in above 1MeV? You mean to tell me you don't even know what a mega-electron-volt is? Sigh. Is there another reporter I can talk to with at least a basic understanding of the most elementary scientific concepts?"

NOTES Eddie is the quintessential boy genius but with a heavy handed arrogance and condesention. (Picture a young Rodney McKay on speed.) While supremely skilled, he has niether the business acumen, societial skills or the patience to deal with the business and the political side of science. Future Dynamics was a perfect fit, since they have pently of "mindless paper pushing drones" who can run interferance for him.

Gordo that write-up is fantastic :) As I read through Eddie's personality practically jumped out the LCD screen! I think he would fit in perfect as the head of R&D (especially with the breadth of disciplines he has mastered)--of course Nicolaus would have both of his own eyes and a few other pairs on the boy genius! LOL It would be great to have you if you are still interested.

I like the idea of the SG.

I also like the idea of a scienfic corporation having a magical consultant.
Seance's status reminds me of Dr. Morphus in the Venture Brothers.

Although considering my characters disregard of anything outside the hard sciences, I can see a lot of bickering between Seance and Fast fission...

"Now, don't get me wrong I am sure that we find some use for a witch doctor here on staff... I mean you never know when you need a rabbit pulled out of a hat or something."

"Oh, and for the record, although it is appreciated, cleavage is NOT a superpower." ;)

Ooh this ST is perfect for one of the characters I want to make for CO.

Codename: Undecided (she might not even use a secret identity when fighting crime - havn't decided).
Real Name: Beryl Rosenfield
Powers: Quantum-technology, powered by a wrist-computer (forcefields, nano repair drones, energy beams) some mutation.

History: Beryl is an excellent reasearcher and has developed some amazing tech on the quantum field. Formerly a proffessor at (a major nearby university) she had a student prodgeny named Aurora. For reasons unbeknownst to Beryl, Aurura eventually made off with a lot of Beryl's reasearch and used it's powers for crime and personal gain. Beryl vows to put a stop to this, and wants to use this technology to benefit humanity rather than destroy it.

Little does she know, that she is the decendant of an ancient race known as the Formori. Native to prehistoric ireland, the formori were powerful demons that ruled the island before the Tuatha de Danu (people of the goddess danu) drove them off and made way for the later human celtic settlers. This power resides deep inside of Beryl's bloodstream, waiting to reveal it's ugly head.

Nemesis: Aurora Wagner
Powers: Quantum-technology. Very similar powerset to Beryl's with a few changes (the base theory is the same, as she stole Beryl's tech, but has a few differences based on her own tinkering.)

I'd appreciate suggestions for 'supernames' for Beryl and Aurora. 'Quantum Woman' just sounds corny and is the best I could come up with.

Edit: From this thread, it looks like most poeple are on CoH.. I've been meaning to give that game a try, maybe I'll give it a try and meet up with you all. I know the kineticiest powerset fits my idea, but I'm not sure what else to take. Should I be a defender Kineticist/* or a controller */kineticist?

I havn't really been following this thread fully, about how many members do we have no total?

shivafang
08-28-2008, 06:38 AM
I decided on codenames. Beryl is a type of gemstone, it's two main varieties are emeralds and sapphires (emeralds and saphires are actually the same stone but one's green and one's blue). I decided upon the name 'Emerald Tempest'. Aurora's codename will probably be "Prismatic Aurora" - she's quite a bit less secretive.

GORDO

"I don't need to pull a rabbit out of my hat. I cant just *** out your mouth."

"All that mystical wisdom and such a limited vocabulary.
You kiss your mother goddess with that mouth?

But wait, we now have a Quantum researcher on staff, so Seance will ot be alone on the bottom the totem pole. Nothing like a poorly crafted theory that can't make up its mind weither to be science or pop philosophy. But again you never know when you need a cat pulled out of a box or something."

OK kidding and Schrödinger's cat jokes aside, here is my 2 cents.

Teleportation powers are a natural for Quantum Mechanics, as is desolifictaion, energy absorbtion/reflection, and especialy luck. Maybe even self duplictaion.

Possible names include
Power Shift, Quantizer, Quantinuum.

For your Nemesis
Quanta (Plural of quantum) Discontinuum. Discord, Quantum Cat (You can also give her claws)

(Note I posed this before I saw you settled on codenames. And a suggestion, I think you may be biting off too much with a tech/magic/mutation background. There is already so much you can do with a quantum mechanic theme.)

BTW Fang That makes two SG we share!

Yes, actually both Beryl and Lance are based on characters for a modern rpg computer game I was working on several years ago (with some significant changes to fit the superhero genre). I had a full list of 'spells' for beryl based on quantum energy.

I also 'dabble' in quantum phsyics in real life (I'm no scientist by any means! But I follow the trends) so I know what's possible and/or likely.

I actually considered naming Beryl "Quanta" but did away with it. I like the idea of "Quanta Discordia" for the nemesis. It appeals to the discordant reasearch that I applied to the RPG I based the characters off of.

If AoSY and this SG are on the same server, I can see Lance working with Beryl on quantum physical reasearch, that will allow him to have some quantum tech to supplement his really poor offensive abilities.

I thought of a codename.
Quantum Caduces. It came to me while I was half asleep a few days ago. Her technology could be focused on medical sciences on the plank scale level, with a few other protective benefits such as force fields.

Quanta Discoria (her nemesis) could be more focused on creating virii and specialized designer drugs.

I can't name characters yet as they are not fully developed (My forum name is one, I digress) but I'd like to throw my keys into this game.

This SG/guild looks like it has some smart and fun people involved. My plan right now is to have about five characters working through an illustrated comic series online for free on a future fan site. A fan project as I'm a writer and have some great artist friends.

The heroes all have to do with metaphysical science or fringe theory. If you'll have me, this seems like a good spot to hang my cowl.

I have lots of experience working with Photoshop and design in general so if a website is in order I can help if wished.

Thanks. :)

Real Name: Jephory Derrick Smalls
Aliases: Tritios (main), Doctor Smalls
Derogatory: Grey-Skin, The Anti-Ladies Man
Age: 32
D.O.B: June 17th
Hometown: Charlotte Metro, NC
Height: 168.1 centimeters (5'5)
Weight: 141.52 kg (312 lbs.)
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Black
Skin Color: Grey
Blood Type: O+
Education: Doctorate of Nuclear Sciences; MIT, Bachelor's Degree of Life Sciences; MIT

---------------------------------------------------------

Powers: Hard exoskeleton, creating tough resistances to physical damages. Self-made ballistic weapons above the wrists on both hand.

---------------------------------------------------------

Personality: Dr. Jephory Smalls is a very closed in, recluse type person to the outside world. He firmly dislikes the media, and how they portray individuals differently, through very biased opinions. He loves staying in the lab, amongst his peers, and working on things to better humanity. He holds a hatred for the group ARGENT, and what they stand for, and works his hardest to destroy it's members.

---------------------------------------------------------

History: Jephory Derrick Smalls was born at 11:15 am to Harvey Michael Smalls, and Denise Leah Henderson-Smalls. Growing up an only child, to a decently wealthy family, Jephory got a lot of whatever he wanted. At the age of 6, and after a year of private schooling, Jephory acquired his first chemistry set. Vinegar and baking soda was naturally the first chemical reaction that he created, and he love every second of it.

With his natural affinity for science, Jephory was destined to land at MIT. He landed there after graduating first in his class in the private school. Prior to the summer of his freshman year there, Jephory's mother passed away, making him even more of a recluse than what he had already become. When he reached MIT, though, he found himself amongst peers scholastically, something that he had never been apart of before.

Jephory graduated 6th in his class, majoring in Nuclear Sciences and minoring in Nuclear Engineering. He immediately went back to school, and acquired his Masters, then of course his Doctorate degrees. The science community raved over his potential, and even published an article on him in the Young Scientists Global periodical, saying, "...Jephory Smalls has the ability and the potential in him to do something great. Help end cancer, or win the fight against aids. All of these things are possible when there is a young, brilliant mind like Smalls..."

He then took a job at an up and coming corporation called, "Science in Motion". (Dr. Smalls found out later that this was an undercover sub-division of the group ARGENT.) He was placed into a department of Hydrogen research, that worked on things like the potential of Hydrogen as a small-scale weapon, or the modifications to current weapons that Hydrogen could make. Dr. Smalls was weary of this, but as the research developed more, the more hush the research became. Eventually, the whole thing was filed under classified, and put away. It's members signing a gag-order, not allowing them to speak on the matter.

After a couple of years there, Dr. Smalls was promoted to the Department of Hydrogen Explosives Research and Development. (Codename: D-HE) The only other person working in this department was a man name Elijah Hensel, a graduate of Cambridge University. They were immediately put to work on the research of Tritium, and it's potential uses other than in the Hydrogen bomb. At this point, Dr. Smalls wanted out. He was assured by the labs authorities that this was not possible. Finally, one day, the Tritium began to leak radiation in large amount. Doctors Smalls and Hensel were drastically dosed in the radiation, mutating Dr. Smalls. Then, the sample became unstable, and exploded, destroying the entire facility. (A local police report said later: "...large amounts of radiation are in the area. 73 dead, 14 missing and presumed dead. Government officials are trying to work on what happened...) But, ARGENT had enough money to cover it up, and have the files destroyed.

Dr. Smalls awoke a week later in an alley. He lived there for weeks, struggling for food, and water. Then, a local Hero took Dr. Smalls (now referred to as Tritios) under his wing, and cared for him. Tritios immediately went to work on finding some cure for himself, and working to help others who had been harmed by evil corporations like ARGENT. That is when he came across Future Dynamics...

-Staff (Approved members)
-Corportate Infornation (For buidling/describing the base, SG history backgroud, rules)
-Scheduled Events (For well... scheduled events)
-Current Projects (Basically a catch all for anything else, RP, Raids, stories. )

Gordo I may use a few of those if you don't mind.

Custodian Varl and 1000_Tons sounds like your characters definitely fit into the concept well. Great to have you on board!

Here are some of my character's stats (will post more as I work it out...)

Name: Varl 263
Race: Super-evolved Human
Age: 271 Terran Standard years
Sex: Neutral Clone
Birthplace: Terra-Six (artificial satellite community)
Date of Birth: Day 79, Year 1,206,993 AD
Height: 7' 11"
Weight: 112 lbs (250 lbs with Support Suit)
Skin Colour: Pale Blue
Eye Colour: Gold
Hair Colour: Bald

Posting: Terra Defense Complex
Title: Custodian
Aliases: The Last Custodian, Guardian of Earth
Qualifications: Physical Sciences, Telemechanical Sciences, Force Field Mechanics, Universal Field Theory (All Grade 6 Level: Doctorate equivalent)

Appearance
Varl is tall and thin, almost skeletal without his support suit. He appears to be a lithe alien, with pale blue skin and completely gold eyes, but is in fact human. Mankind's ability to reproduce by cloning paved the way for increased brain size and capacity; Varl's cranium is greatly enlarged, and multiple additional brain lobes enable him to efficiently address several tasks at once. His support armour enables him to move about, while the life system supplements his atrophying bodily functions.

Abilities
Humanity has long since become a psychic race, with individual's talents determining their role in society. Varl possesses considerable Telekinetic control; he can project a telekinetic field to prevent damage, or manipulate objects from a distance. Varl can also manipulate the flow of electrical energy with his Electrokinetic talent. His most amazing ability, however, is the extremely rare Telemechanics; a combination of the two aforementioned powers, this enables him to mentally interface with almost any inorganic technology. This talent was the reason he was selected for the role of Custodian at such a young age (he was only 152 at the time).

Personality/Tactics
Varl is a quiet soul, his long years of isolation at the TDC (Terran Defense Complex) were broken only by the occasional visitor. He is ever hungry for knowledge of other places and cultures (especially their technology), and when in the company of others he will listen patiently and attentively. He rarely speaks, but when doing so has a soft, almost melodious voice. Varl is extremely tolerant of others' differences, as are almost all of Humanity, but he more so than most; he has witnessed first hand the destructive power of hatred as he struggles to maintain the amazingly powerful field generator that holds back the Matter Swarm from the rest of the galaxy.
Varl is not a combatant, and he knows it. In combat he will hang back, not confronting an opponent directly, but instead using his abilities to aid allies. He can project TK fields to cover friends or imprison foes; but if anyone strays too close he can attack with crippling arcs of electrical power. Against technologically equipped enemies, he uses his Telemechanics to interfere with his opponent's weapons and other equipment, while aiding the technology of his allies.

Well just to be brief I was just going to rehash a character I made for City of Hero's my first ever level 50 a blaster, the "Titanium Ghost" His and his brother's dream was to make commercial avalible power suit to be used in construction and what have you for them cost was a issue there first generation suit ran on batteries. But they knew if they wanted funding they would need to give it some military applications and then develop it for commercial uses later on, in one of the field trails for the suit not actual combat or such there was a incident in the COH story the rikti invasion happened. And his brother who was flying the suit was believed killed as only fragments were found.

(This was a tie in for another characters origon story.)

Well the brother was upset but still wanted to make there dream a reality so to keep his brothe rliving in his memory used the fragments in making the next suit, as the suit was mostly made from Titanium and since it was in his brothers' memory he took the hero name TItanium Ghost. Other than a few name changes it could easily still work in the champions universe and he's a inventor and tech user and I like to dabble in crafting I figured this kin would be a nice fit since I also like RPing.

If this sounds good to other i'll go to the offical site and get started on getting joined up.

That sounds like a great idea! I am still vacillating over my character's back story (which is why I haven't posted anything on the IC thread yet:(). Perhaps giving his nemesis a bit of life will inspire me with some ideas.

Gordo I really like that idea, but I have two problems with it. 1) As I understand it the Nemesis is part of the hero game and the villain side (if it ever happens) isn't going to be available until long after launch. 2) Someone else would have to run the villain group; Two groups is a lot of work! :)

Fastest Brain in the West!!!

'.....Before the I.P.H.D. I was washed up, supposedly washed up, that's what they kept telling me, what? you don't know what the I.P.H.D. is? have you done your homework? have you actually done any research? are you even a real reporter? well the I.P.H.D, the Institude for Post-Human Development was what got my work back on track, you see unlike those stiffs that booted me out of their Ivory Tower for unorthorized experimentation and misappropriation of resources these guys at the IPDH actually understood what my work was about, they weren't concerned with the impact my work would have on the masses or the upheaval my creations could bring, they saw my vision, understood the potential I offered to humanity, they shared in my dream, or so I thought, what? stop interrupting me, you're interfering with my train of thought and I don't have all day to explain every minute detail of every little thing with you, yes I know you didn't say anything, I can read your thoughts remember? and your thoughts are as distracting as words, more so in fact, so please cease the ramblings of your consciousness and listen, my time is short, oh man, yes I know I can bend time as you call it, it's actually a simple matter of kinetic manipulation, but regardless I don't have much time, there's work to be done, always work to be done, what was I saying? yes the IPHD, well to cut a long story short because you've wasted valuable seconds forcing me to explain things you should already know, the IPHD weren't all they were cracked up to be, in fact quite the opposite, blinded by my devotion to my work I failed to see their schemes until it was too late, until one by one citizens started going missing, until innocent people began to be experimented on, my work was never meant to be forced upon anybody, it was meant to enhance mankind, to bring about our full potential, not create the abominations Dr Manfred unleashed upon the city, Dr Manfred? you'll know him best as Professor Maelstrom, I won't rest until that Arch Villain gets what he deserves, the only good thing to come out of the IPHD was my Mindworks Project, but rather than helping the masses it brought upon them the curse of slavery, to save humanity I had to sacrifice my work, but the project lives on in me, I am the first and the last, the alpha and the omega if you will, the worlds only Psynetic, there are no others, not even Manfred - I mean Professor Maelstrom can claim to wield the potential I embody, I am the future of humanity, just as soon as the masses figure out how to live without trying to kill and steal from each other, damn I'm out of time, funny as that sounds, I said I could spare forty two seconds and you've had all of forty seven! I simply must return to my lab and review the diagnostic report that should be ready right about.....now....' [End Recording]

Hey! I've been lurking on these forums for a while now, learning everything I could about the game, deciding which of my many heroic creations I'll use as my first/main CO character. I've pretty much settled on one of my lesser played alts from CoX (which I played for a while and through which I created many characters). This character is Mindworks and in CoX he was a mind/kinetic controller. A very hands-on, fast paced character with whom you just couldnt sit back! If I recall from the various combo's I played both the mind set of powers and kinetics were very active, neither giving you chance to take your foot off the accelerator! Anyway, I loved this character but never played him enough on CoX. So with CO just around the corner I decided to resurect him and give him the due he deserves! I feel he'll fit in best wit the "action-oriented combat" of CO and it gives me chance to flesh out another toon!

Mindworks makes extensive use of Pysnetic devices which empower him with post-human mind-over-matter abilities. He will be as close to a buffer and controller as is possible in CO, taking powers of a psychic and kinetic nature, whatever those may be when the game releases. His costume is a rather (I think) s****y yellow and grey armoued mesh suit (I did once create a decent enough replica of the CoX costume using Hero Machine - I'll see about redoing that again soon).

Anyway, I think this character would fit perfectly into the Future Dynamics SG. In CoX my SG was chosen for the people in it rather than for RPing or character concepts. With CO I'd like to choose more fitting SG's for my major characters. Would you object if I were to have alts in other thematic SG's? I do admit I'm a serious altaholic, though not at the expense of underplaying my mains. I was at first hesitant about the SG's before game launch as I'm in the UK and almost all are US based but as it's been stated that there will be one game server for this game I don't have to worry about finding Euro based SG's. But as I said, I think Mindworks will be my main for CO and thus FD my primary SG. If that's acceptable of course?

Thanks for reading!

[EDIT: Oh one last thing, I got some of the inspiration for this toon from Rifts: Mindwerks. That the founder of the SG is Professor Paladium is just fantastic!]

Real Name: Dr. Alexander von Elmendorf
Aliases: Adamas Aquila, Untamed, the Iron Eagle (original).
Age: 68, though biological aging ceased at 21.
D.O.B: April 6th, 1930
Hometown: Innsbruck, Austria
Height: 185.42 cm. (6’1’’).
Weight: 98.97 kg (205 lbs.)
Eye Color: Brown.
Hair Color: Dark Brown.
Skin Color: White/Tan tone.
Blood Type: A+
Education: Self-taught.

Personality: Alexander von Elmendorf wears two masks; one is the fearless armoured crusader, the second is Alexander von Elmendorf himself. Beneath the metal and beneath the collected cool is the fiery, passionate scholar born to an impoverished Austrian community decades ago. That Alexander is definite in his opinions, immovable upon his decisions, and adamant in his assertions. But, the face and the man have blended over the years; his mind is almost as open to ideas as it is to knowledge, he can express reluctance or even change in thought, and is more cautious and rational before he makes judgments. Still, he is a mercurial force with the simultaneous disorder and singularity of a besieging legion at war; this inner conflict has less deeply psychological implications, like the fact he might retreat inwardly for days at a time, in deep though, or occasionally hum to himself at random, despite being told (not to his face, of course) that he can’t quite carry a tune.

History: The saga of von Elmendorf began in a small, unassuming Austrian clock shop, remnants of a once great family destroyed by the fighting that took place during the first World War. From the youngest age, Alexander had been obsessed with the understanding of the universe; the intricacies of mechanics, the abstracts of the arts, the nuances of history and the indiscernible nature of the future. Of course, while his father always encouraged his son in educational pursuits, there came times where portions of the house had to be closed off; “Kleiner Alex” had an innocent habit of getting into the workings of every machine he possessed. Of course, the stress weighed upon the widower, his wife having died giving birth to Alexander, and at the age of fourteen, barely in his teen years, Alex was left on his own as his father’s heart having given away. Of course, his genius was just being realized by now; improving upon his late father’s timepieces, he managed to raise himself out of the slums of Innsbruck, and built for himself a library he spent all of his spare time in. He had decided to take up the violin, fascinated by the flow and the science behind the music; of course, while he did excel to the position of second chair in an orchestra he participated in, he was repeatedly denied first because his music “had no soul”.
In the future, he would reflect that it was, perhaps, suspicious that almost immediately after he had published a paper proposing a way in which both the position and momentum of a particle could be measured simultaneously, years after he had become a successful scientist butting heads with “those empiricist fruits in Munich”, it had so happened he was invited to attend a conference in Innsbruck’s sister city of Freiburg, Germany. Upon crossing the Austro-German border, his carriage was attacked by men wearing the uniform of the Schutzstaffel. Dragged into the hills near Wenceslas, Alexander was forced at the behest of gunpoint and multiple beatings to work on the rising Nazi Party’s wunderwaffe program, designing super weapons that he could only guess would be fired at. Even then, he was a reluctant employee; he purposely set back numerous projects involving aircraft and propulsion, dipping his feet in other fields of engineering and science, though couldn’t prevent the completion of the first rocket to ever reach space. Of course, another project of his was the Eisenmannwaffe, a suit of powered armour that would facilitate his escape. Agents within the Der Riese complex, of an occult nature, forced him to scrap it in fears that it would be taken from him and used as an effective war machine. Having to survive, though, he released a stunted version of it, making it useful only so far as protecting a man from intense heat or radiation.
It was not long before the opportunity presented itself to use the weapon; using designs of extraterrestrial origin, the Nazis had come close to perfecting a form of spacecraft in the shape of a bell, dubbed “Die Glocke”. Asked to work upon the craft for his expertise in quantum physics and rocketry, he entered the testing room with the intention of causing the craft to be rendered inoperable; however, his tampering instead brought about a catastrophic reaction from Die Glocke, and he and his suit were bombarded with exotic forms of radiation he could that in nearly a century he has been incapable of classifying. In the end, he was rendered immortal, his biological processes continuing without a need for rest or nourishment, and the aging of his body halting in its tracks. The composition of his iron suit changed, with its entire molecular make-up changed in a way German scientists tried to emulate until the very end of World War II. Of course, Alexander had no intentions for staying that long; an air raid soon left the base in ruins, the Nazis foiled, and he fled the chaos in his enhanced hazardous environment suit. Acting as a vigilante soldier of fortune, he would thwart multiple plans of the Third Reich until the Allies had won, and he had lost interest in the oppression and fighting, and earn himself the name of the Iron Eagle for his metallic suit and the “lessons” he would make public displays about. Making his way for America as a stowaway, he would retreat into a monastic lifestyle, alone in the wilderness, until twenty years before the destruction of Detroit, where he took an interest in the world around him again, and began working on new theories and technologies. Improving upon the Eisenmannwaffe, his patents brought him back onto the technological stage, if only playing a role behind the curtains, letting the numerous investors take the spotlight while he thrived once again.
Eventually, with the construction the Millenium City, he found a place where he could be accepted not as a vengeance-seeking demon that caused villagers to bolt their doors in terror towards, but as a protector of enterprise and personal freedoms. Still, his identity is known only to himself, and his technologies are almost jealously-guarded secrets; he tinkers endlessly with the suit, spending his days the reclusive atom-pusher and his nights the superhero known as Adamas Aquila, translation: Untameable Eagle.

Powers: Alexander v. Elmendorf utilizes the Eisenarn Mk. II, a suit of powered armour of unique composition and design.

Flight: Being an expert in the field of rockets and mechanics, ion-propulsion modules are installed in both the hands and feet, having built-in gyro-stabilizers to facilitate smooth flight at hypersonic speeds.

Disruptors: Advanced weapons located in the faceplate, chest and hands can form what visually appears as an energy beam, but in fact is the simultaneous excitement of all particles within an indicated (typically cylindrical area), breaking the bonds between atoms within molecular structures, and therefore requiring no accommodation for drift or reduction of power due to atmosphere or forces of distortion.
Infinite Energy: The suit itself requires no recharging at a module or visible energy source, because it constantly draws energy from its surroundings, uniformly, the material it’s made of acting like one enormous zero-point module. This field extends massive distances, therefore, the amount of energy being drawn from any one physical system is negligible, and the way the field acts can be consciously or subconsciously molded, so for example, the suit could draw energy exclusively from the vacuum of space when not being used in Alexander’s “extra-curricular activities”, or be concentrated around the suit so as to reduce the effect of incoming projectiles, though the side-effects of this can be dangerous, therefore resulting in sparse use.

Invulnerability: Indeed, it is often unnecessary, as the Eisenarn Mk. II for the most part is composed of a nigh-indestructible, black body metal; the original iron compound that was affected with v. Elmendorf on the fateful day within the Die Glocke testing chamber. The material absorbs almost all forms of electromagnetic radiations, leaving the wearer vulnerable only to incredibly high-energy particles; this means the suit also reflects very little if no light, though some of the modifications the suit has undergone have hindered the consistency of this effect. So far, the suit has not been torn, and is incredibly resistant to torque or buckling. The only occasions the suit has been warped have been from incredible impacts from supervillians, and high-yield artillery shells. The process to undo this damage uses modified apparatus that, in a past life, artificially pressured carbon-compounds to create diamonds. Of course, the suit does transfer small amounts of kinetic energy to the wearer, and while the suit itself might remain unbroken, bruises, concussions, and broken bones have occurred.

Life Support: The suit has a self-contained environmental sustainer, and is vacuum sealed, tested to withstand space-travel and sustain regular users for days on end; v. Elmendorf, being “changed”, has a metabolism that doesn’t require oxygen or sustenance.

Super-strength: Hydraulics within the suit increases both the protection to the wearer, and base strength, causing wielders to be several times stronger than the average human being.

Connectivity: The Eisenarn Mk. II incorporates an HUD-interface, both voice-controlled and interfacing with the wearer’s nervous system for instantaneous usage, which provides statistical read-outs, information, GPS navigation and wireless Internet access. Communications ranging an array of frequencies, from local radio to police scanners and so on, are also built in, as well as satellite phone and land-wire connectivity.

Longevity: Due to exposure to incredible amounts of DNA-altering radiation, Alexander was rendered ageless, his body’s biological processes stopped in all forms of degeneration; he could always go up through exercise or other artificial conditioning of himself, but he no longer needed to eat, sleep, and had stopped aging somewhere close to his twenty-second birthday. He is susceptible to injury and is only as strong as an average human being with a moderate exercise regime, but has an increased regeneration rate; he can actually re-grow destroyed body parts, but the process can take as long as a year, a time possibly halved by therapy. He is also able to generate new synaptic links, even though he has passed pubescence. Mimicking his suit’s ability, iron compounds lodged within his genome allow his body to draw energy from zero-point fields, though he has not mastered the ability to change how they operate.

Intellect: An expert in scientific fields ranging from theoretical physics to chemistry and astronomy, cosmology to architecture and engineering, philosophy and engineering, he has a foot in a lot of it. Though he has been to modest to admit it himself, many have pinned him as a “prodigal genius”, which he has gone so far to actively deny to keep the public eye off of him; sooner or later, the “many” will have noticed he still hasn’t looked a day over twenty-one in years.

If you want any more, just ask, because I know this was kind of copy-pasta'd from the Origins thread in Fan Base Alpha.

I am very interested in this; so much, in fact, I have finally finished the inspired superhero after hours of work and droning. But it was fun. And awesome. I've registered on your website so I can ask to bask in the awesomeness. I can feel a tingling. :3

I have some game questions related to your supergroup.

It has been stated in an interview with Bill Roper that crafting is split into three sections: Science, Arms, and Mystic. The following has been hinted at but it mainly just my speculation:

Science seems more like radiation treatments and mutagens
Arms is more towards power suits, guns, and devices
Mystic will be more towards flying carpets (confirmed in game) and spells

Since one of your stated goals is to delve into the crafting system are you going to focus on all three? Putting RP flavor into the mix, ARMS seems to be the section that Future Dynamics most exemplifies, however a Science branch isn't stretching it very far, so would be doable.

Mystic seems to be a bit outside your bounds through, keeping with the flavor. Of course, you could always have a Mysti-Tech branch, a. la. Dr. Doom, who combined tech and mysticism.

So I guess I wanting to know:

Are you focusing on all three branches?
Are you putting a PRIMARY focus into ARMS, or any other branch?
What flavor are you allowing Mystic Crafter into the group with, if you even are?
What is your favorite color of crayon?

Thank you for your time.

NOTE: I'm not asking these because I'm looking towards a mystic crafter submission. I'm just curious as to your thoughts on the matter and the guilds overall focus....

EDIT: Reading more of the thread, I think I found some of the answers I was looking for, but I'd like to hear your answers anyhow. :)

With that said, I do have a character idea I would like to submit, but I'd like to wait until I have a background Im more comfortable with.

Just some casual info for you guys:

Crafting will be in three sets:
Arms
Science
Mystical

It has been confirmed by the devs that you may only have ONE crafting set per character.

I would like to sign up for Future Dynamics with my hero, Big Brother.

Hopefully, my younger brother will be accompanying me in the game, and will act as Dr. Artemis J. Richter.
Dr. Richter has many potential outcomes as far as powers work. He could possibly remote-control another Bio-electrically Amplified Droid after perfection of the direct conscious-to-computer link, or maybe he has a modular suit of his own to fight crime in.

The truth behind Big Brother's AI is one of his "shticks," or particularly interesting things about him that just make him a more interesting character. The first, unclassified portion of the bio is what is readily available to anyone who might "Google" Big Brother or search for him on the Internet, while the classified portion of his bio reveals the truth behind the human-like qualities of the AI.

Model: Bio-electrically Amplified Missile and Forcefield Droid (B.A.M.F. Droid)
Alias: Big Brother
Age: Created June 25th, 2009. AI gained sentience on July 4th, 2009
Programming: Linux

AI Origin: Speculative. Doctor Richter had been experimenting with transferring consciousness from intelligent beings to artificial bodies for several years. It was on July 4th, 2009 that Doc. Richter's laboratory in Pittsburgh was attacked by a group of tech-thieves known as the "Golden Gears". Breaking in, they intended to steal the recently constructed B.A.M.F. Droid that was commissioned for use by the United States Military. Doctor Richter's older brother, whose existence has been marginally classified, fought against the Golden Gears alongside Doc. Richter. While expelling the intruders, the older brother was mortally wounded. The Droid's AI gets along suprisingly well with Doc. Richter on an almost human level, although preliminary scans have yet to detect the pressence of anything other than an artificial intelligence within the machine.

Motivation: Big Brother and Doc. Richter both see the potential in the technology they integrated into their lives, but they also see how such potency can be misused by groups such as the Golden Gears. Artemis and Big Brother use their powers to intercept hi-tech thieves and to hinder groups that would implement technology in avarice. By working for Future Dynamics, they receive corporate-level information that helps them plot their actions on a much grander scale.

Other Information: The B.A.M.F. Droid is outfitted with some of the most advanced portable missile and forcefield technology to date. The 'Droid itself is also highly modular, and its AI proactively takes advantage of that fact. Doctor Richter provides much assistance for the AI where devising new weapons is concerned. The AI is quite persistent, and has the capability to exist on the Internet should its shell be destroyed.

PERSONAL LOGS OF ARTEMIS J. RICHTER

June 25th, 4:23 PM
The B.A.M.F. Droid's body has finally been completed. //BROTHER// will want to see it. He's always enjoyed my creations. He'll probably have his critiques, but they've never been anything but helpful. The Military has been eagerly anticipating the 'Droid's creation. It will be delivered on July 5th, the day after July 4th, to help commemorate the occasion.

June 27th, 3:56 PM
//BROTHER// says the 'Droid is my best creation yet. Unfortunately, we cannot get the AI to work properly. Originally, the plan was to sync it with a soldier's mind by means of a direct conscious-to-computer link. This would allow the 'Droid to function as though it were an extension of the person piloting it. Unfortunately, our tests have concluded that the level of consciousness required to withstand such massive input at any given time would brainwash any normal person, or worse. //BROTHER// is confident that I'll make it work. I just hope we won't have to use a remote control.

July 3rd, 4:56 PM
I accidentally opened a less-than-savory e-mail today. My laptop is now bugged with viruses and other impediments. //BROTHER// was quite angry at me. He says we might have compromised the security of our laboratory. Thankfully, we won't have to wait too much longer to deliver the B.A.M.F. Droid. It will be running off of a remote control, much to our displeasure, but everything else is working as it should. We'll be dismantling the P.O.D. we built for the conscious-to-computer link as soon as the 'Droid is shipped out. There are a few tests left that I want to run, but the parts that went into the device should be enough to pay for itself on eBay. We have yet to come up for a proper acronym for the P.O.D.

July 4th, 6:36 PM
I can't wait, //BROTHER// can't wait, and the Military can't wait! And, . . .

July 5th, 2:13 AM
The "less-than-savory" e-mail I opened gave the tech-thieves known as the "Golden Gears" just enough information to crash our laboratory last night. //BROTHER// didn't make it... Well... Sort of. One of the thugs shot him a couple times. I managed to seal the door to the robotics room. //BROTHER// was bleeding pretty bad. There wasn't anything I could do. He told me to get him into the P.O.D. and fire it up. It didn't look like there was much of anything left we could do. I turned it on, and //BROTHER//'s body disappeared in a bright flash. His voice came over the COM system and told me he was alright. Then the B.A.M.F. Droid moved. //BROTHER// was inside of it.
He was always good at video games, and he loved quoting Duke Nukem. The Golden Gears could never have anticipated what happened to them next. Neither could I, but //BROTHER// did.

July 5th, 4:16 PM
We got a letter from Future Dynamics in the mail. Apparently the Golden Gears weren't the only ones to get our information after it was leaked onto the Internet. We'll be recieving new funding, and should be moving our laboratory (at least what's left of it) to Millenium City. //BROTHER// has christened himself "Big Brother". He's still the same as before, but since integrating with the suit, he's been able to interact with Wi-Fi networks psychically.

//END LOG//

I will possibly add more information about the Golden Gears in the future. Right now, they come to my mind as a cross between CoX's Gold Brickers and Clockwork. I'll be implementing this organization as the basis for Big Brother's Nemesis.

And the rest of you out there too! Hellooooo...there have got to be some people interested in this concept.

There will be. I run a similar concept myself, on CoV, though with a slightly different integration plan for members. Characters that joined Sin Enterprises are the firm's Powered Security forces against the many many thugs, gangs, villains and even heroes that would want to disrupt their research and operations.

Maybe consider dropping that into Future Dynamics as a player option instead of all characters being scientists?

(edit: Wow, nevermind. I apparently missed that there were over a dozen more pages! :) Looks like you've rounded up quite enough interest, so I wish you good luck!)
