Will there be any at all? . now forgive me, but i dont mean just capes.
Everyone wont be your high flying Hero soaring from building to building,
i mean things like jetpacks, quivers(!), jumppacks, backpacks, wings and the like?
Guessing from how much they have learned from City of Heroes and how much they are giving the players what they want I'm guessing this will be on their list.
I'd be so psyched for things like -seeing- your sword on your back or hips (and if you could choose which, or even if it shows!), wings that have an animation when you change costume so it looks like they retract (I know, that's just being hopeful, but I dream big).
Not quite costumes, but how cool would it be to have access to your very own apt? Hee. And maybe the option for a fake 'dressing room' to pop up around you when/if you change costumes.
I'm basing a lot of this on CoX, of course.

Based on the fact we will be able to have secret identities, I would be more surprised if we didnt have access to personal housing.

Personal housing would be cool...it could be leveled by your nemesis...and they could steal your dog...good plot item

Actually I'm not a very big fan of player housing, especially if it's the type that take up actual space in the game world.
Well, they could do something similar to what they do in CoX, and it's something I see the NPC's do all the time: pick a building, any building. That's where you live. Click on the front door, balcony window, et cetra, and you go "inside", IE it generates a specific instance that's for you and you only. I think they do something like that in EQ II, and that's definetely what they do in CoX with the SG base portals. Everyone shares the same entrance; they just don't share the same space.

I'm hoping the character costume designer is AT LEAST as flexible as the one for CoX.

I'm sure in the monts to come we will get more details on character and costume creation.
I'm really excited about this.

Since you mentioned wings. What about other ablities that might stem from physical deviations from a standard human form, or just wanting to deviate from that form for an aesthetic purpose, like say a character like Nightcrawler or any other character of the plethora.

I'm hoping it'll be far better. For one thing I'd like to see more asymmetrical costume pieces.

Stretching, Growth, Shrinking, Shapeshifting are all standard powers available in both Champions and Comics. They are not available in COX (PB/WS notwithstanding). I would hope they are made available in this game too. Some of my favorite characters are metamorphs.

As for the costume options, I've got my fingers crossed for a lot of robotic features. One thing about CoH that I liked, was the robotic wings. I would very much like to see the same kind of divers and imaginative costume options in this new game. They are talking about it, like it will be CoX and everything the players have whined about wanting in CoX. If that’s the case, then I hope they can deliver what they are building up.
As for the secret identities and “living space” that would be an interesting idea. I also would like to see them put in the Super Group bases like in CoX. Perhaps even having our own living spaces for members inside their SG bases. *shrug* always been an idea for me, since my character is a robot, and couldn’t carry a secret identity storyline.

I'm fairly certain you won't be able to have your enlarged codpiece as a costume item. Better yet you can't have your combat codpiece either.

It's one of the things I love about CoX and hate about WoW. Love to mess around in the costume editor, trying to come up with interesting looks.

I guess we can go on and start the Costuming Wish List now, so they know before they get out of the starting gate what we want.

I would love to see quivers for archers as well. This would make them more realistic, rather than pulling arrows out of thin air. At least, allow us to have 'functional' costume parts that would make sense.
Quivers for archers.
Scabbards for sword wielders.
Holsters for gunslingers.
That's all I can think of at the moment.

Sounds like you might be Ultima Online vet... I remember they had to keep increasing the size of the world just to compensate.
One thing I am curious about when talking about other costume pieces is Hero System used a limitation called Focus, essential meaning the power originated from an object that could be taken away or possibly damaged. So I wonder if something like this may be incorporated into Champions Online perhapses something along the lines of you select the Focus limitation then the representation of that focus. How they can incorporate taking this object is another question though. Sure it's easy enough to say someone with a Gun (a focus) can be disarmed and the gun taken from them. It becomes a different story when that gun is the source of the character's primary attack leaving them drained on offense.
However, that said, there is also something to be said about dynamic mission parameters for instance a boss early on in a mission disarms a character taking their focus, the mission now has a new parameter of retreating the focus. More so, it allows for a type of unique character mission using the same example the missions is set around the PC loosing their focus and possibly having to deal with someone using it. How they could design/institute this O have no idea but it' a fun concept, at least to me.

I'd like to see a 'create a helmet' sort of option. Much like you 'layer' up your hero's costume, i'd like to see a variety of basic helmet shapes and different eye/nose/mouth pieces for them.
I wonder if there's any chance of having "extra limb" characters. It'd be pretty sweet if that was a power.

I would like the "Build-a-Helm" option too. Not only a good choice base helm design, but also be able to choose your eye, ear, and mouth options.

I'm hoping to see tails (on a seperate slot form belts) with a greater variety from CoX. They have a lizard tail, but its too small, and rodent, cat and demon tail.. but I would also like to see a canine tail, something the CoX Devs have never given us, despite giving us canine heads, therefore leaving half a costume set in place.
And on that topic, I would also like to see a greater variety of animal heads, with matching 'other' features, as i just demonstrated.
One thing that always annoys me about CoX is that they give half sets for each animal type. Canine heads and feet/hands, no tails! Therefore you cant make a proper werewolf. Minotaur legs and tail, but no head! Cant put other features on the animal heads! etc. it really feels incomplete. I would also like to see options for other animal types, like eagle heads and tails to go with the wings.. etc. Theres a lot of potential, I see so many players in CoX even to this day 'pretending' which shouldn't happen considering that it wouldn't take that long to put the pieces in to complete the existing sets.
There is a large number of players who like playing these type of characters and heroes, so I just hope they don't go ignored on release. CoX didnt get these things will CoV, which was a crying shame.. I played CoX at release and then quit as I couldnt make the character I wanted, CoV roped me back in with the option to play the character I wanted.

I'd actually like to have multi-forms, say a were-wolf. You have you human form and human set of stats, your true wolf form and stats, and a hybrid anthropomorphic form and it stats. If Cryptic can pull that off, it will truely be a next generation engine.

As mentioned before, I would like to see sheaths for your weapons, quivers for arrows, and any other things like this. They could customizable to where you can put them on your character (like a sheath could go on the back, on the side of the waist, or along the back and tilted to the side on the waist) and have the character draw the weapon a certain way to accompany this choice ( I don't want to see a character drawing a weapon from the back when the sword is at the waist). But I'd be completely fine if drawing effects weren't designed, just as long as the item is there on the character.
I would also like to see an ability to summon weapons if you so desired. They could be technology based where you speak into a watch and it appears before you (think Martin Mystery if you ever watched that) or being able to magically summon it before you.

I third this. I have a couple of multi-form characters I'd love to play. I just don't know how well they'd be able to pull off a character who has more than two forms.

They've already pulled it off partially with the Kheldian Archetype from City of Heroes. They are shape-shifters which can take two different forms. A flying Blaster type form and a Brick type form. The forms have their own unique sets of attributes and powers which unlock when you change. They just need to take it step future in allowing the player to customize the powers and attribute of the different forms.
One thing I'm really hoping for is a good variety of belts. I always thought the belts in CoX were such utter garbage, I always ended up using the least obtrusive one. Give me a simple utility belt, maybe a belt that hangs off one side of your hips, stuff like that.
It'd also be a nice touch to allow you to wear a hat, but still have a distinct hairstyle (or lack thereof) underneath it. That always bugged me in CoX.

Just curious, if tails are included in the game will they actually move? I hated that CoX tails did not move. They looked like cheap costume parts bought at a Halloween store.

Player housing would be realy cool. but for costumes I say that you should have a secret identy and when there's danger you bacicly have to go into a phone booth or dark ally and change into your super form... also I think that villians should learn your true identy after awhile along with the public learning it. another thing when you are in citizen form you should have a citizen name that you make and when you change your title changes to your secret identy. but these are all just hopes and dreams. :)
