My firewall is ZoneAlarm (ZA) but I checked and ChampionsOnline (or rather CrypticOnline as its shown in ZA) is listed as having access. I even granted nettest access to see if it changed anything, it didn't.

This seems to be an extremely unstable game when reading all these posts. I doubt I'd've bought it had I known.
ZoneAlarm has issues with Champions Online even if access was granted to the program. I suggest uninstalling the ZoneAlarm so that you may start playing Champions Online.

This seems like a very unfair request. Without Zone alarm I won't have a firewall or any anti-virus protection. How long will I be able to use my computer without such software?

I wish I knew about this conflict before I bought the game.

If I remember correctly, I thought zone alarm had a 'DMZ' list that allowed you to add applications to the list and it gave them unfettered access through the firewall.

It does. I added Champions Online to the list. This is the only online game that has ever had such problems.

As I said, I wish I had known about this conflict before buying the game. I wouldn't have wasted my money.

Rest assured whoever I sell this game to will be told about this conflict so they don't have the same issues.

Yeah, I like how their suggestions for resolving connection issues is to remove and disable all security applications, from AV to firewall, leaving your system completely vulnerable, to play the game.

Wow, sure you can play, until your system crashes from taking on a virus or something.

We want to check to see if it is ZoneAlarm that is causing this issue you are having.

I have previously disabled ZA (where there was a warning on my computer that it wasn't protected) and CO still would not run. As far as actually uninstalling ZA even temporarily off my computer, I'm hesistant to do that. Even if CO is conflicting with ZA, ZA is far more important.

Unless there's some adjustments that can be done to ZA without removing it from my computer or if there's other things you could suggest that I try, I think my mind is made up. I am not trying to sound harsh, just honest.

Please also make sure that your IE is:
1. Up to date
2. Not set to work offline
3. Clear the IE cache
4. Not set to block pop up, images, and have the autofill form option turned off
One last question, where do I find autofill?

Thumbs down

I too am using Zone Alarm and I am also having problems logging into the game. It seems to me that a game should not require you to uninstall all all security for your system in order to be played. Has ZA been made aware of this issue? Can't Cryptic work together with them to be able to fix this issue?
I have tried the above options to be able to play and still can not get past the 'connecting to login server' screen. Any other suggestions? Oh, and Zone Alarm won't be the program I uninstall if this persists.
