This was reported first at 1:20 pm yesterday. So far there has been no word from Cryptic. You guys have all this MMO experience on your team and you haven't gotten one important part down, communication.

Fix your ****ing **** or tell people wtf the problem is.

for people with valid preorder keys that are whining about the system not retaining...

you're going to kick yourself.

it is. so. easy. to. fix. this.

after entering you have to either pick a sub or 'no, not at this time'. click 'submit'. voila.

problem solved, play.

or you can learn how to finish the registration process like i just did..

it's not done until it processes. when it tells you what the key is on the first splash page after entering you HAVE NOT yet finished.

click 'no, not at this time', then click submit, then you're done.

Default Hello, Better Business Bureau? I'm a victim of bait-n-switch advertising.

Well well, it appears I'm one of those lucky ones that upon seeing Cryptic's "pre-order, open beta, early access" "advertisement" went ahead and clicked on their link to be taken to a list of retailers where I could place my "pre-order."

I looked at the choices, and selected Direct2Drive as I'd dealt with them before, and was a much more desirable choice than having to physically visit the others, so I selected D2D and placed my pre-order.

Supposedly, had I gone and visited all the other potential retail sites , then, I might have noticed that a couple of them explicitly stated early-access among the bonuses.

Unfortunately I relied on Cryptic's advertising (changed AFTER I'd ordered).

Smells an awful lot like bait-n-switch advertising to me (intentional or not).
If Cryptic cares at all about customer service, they would honor their "pre-clarified" advertising.
If not, I for one, will be investigating lodging a bait-n-switch complaint with the BBB.

And no, it won't kill me to wait a few more days for access, but it is an annoyance created
by deception or incompetence. Either deserves them a figurative slap on the wrist at least.

For everyone who is getting the "No Shards Found" error and you have a key that allows you to get into the Head Start Program (look at this page to see if the store you pre-ordered from has Head Start access, http://www.champions-online.com/retail ), please go to our site http://www.champions-online.com/support, log in and create a technical support ticket.

To create a support ticket,
a.) go to http://www.champions-online.com/support
b.) log in with your Champions Online account (or create one if you do not already have one)
c.) Under the Technical Support section click on the My Help Tickets
d.) Click Create New Ticket
e.) Click on Tech issues
f.) Click on Connection Issues
g.) In the Search dialog box type in "No Shards Found" and click search
h.) Click on 'My issue isn't listed here, create a new one!'
i.) Fill in the summery as "No Shards Found" and in the description put a summery of your issue.

We will look at your account and contact you directly.

Thanks for posting Doog. Don't know if the potential to resolve includes the D2D type folks, but I re-submitted the shard issue as you suggested. Guess I'll just cross my fingers we might be on the review list.

I hope so. Otherwise like others have posted, guess I'll have to fill the time with one of the free trial MMOs out there or such until I can play CO in a few days with my friends already online. I just hope they aren't so far ahead that I'm forever trying to catch up to them (not sure how fast the leveling progression is working after the XP rebalancing post-beta).

I whole heartedly agree, and the fact is this is false advertisement on Cryptics part... Hate to be the one to say it but if you take me to a page for retail purchase that is linked through your OWN advertisment claiming early access as well as beta access, then only supply half of what you originally linked, you are falsly advertising what you are selling!!! I would hope that you decide to fix this... as it is a liability...

Anyone managed to fix the problem yet?

I have the same message but
i also have a problem with bein billed for lifetime sub and getting no email nor did my account register it.
i sent a ticket as you said doog.
