My two cents....

Champions Online was a unique experience for me through the testing stage. It captured the fine line between a theme-park and Sand Box game. You could customize your hero how-ever you wanted, and still be viable. You could experience the game, and grouping was more of a social choice than a necessity.

This was nirvana. I had just recently purchased Aion, another game whos beta I greatly enjoyed, and found myself in the position of choosing between two games. Ultimately, after playing the beta, I mad the choice. Champion's was going to be that game. After this patch, I am questioning my choice to spend my money on the game, and the six month subscription, which at the time I thought was a great deal.

What I thought I had found in this game was a true sandbox, where creative people could interact, sharing their character builds, stories, and play in a gigantic comic book hero playground. Each one being distinct and not having to fulfill a set cookie cutter Tank,DPS,HEALer trinity. As of this patch, I no longer believe this to be the case.

This patch simply increases difficulty across the board. What was once viable playstyles, styles that weren't min-maxed or spreadsheeted out, are no longer viable. You are no longer a hero, no longer a Champion. Your a, say it with me now, SIDEEEEE KICKKKKK!

No offense, but I didn't subscribe to SIDE KICK ONLINE, I subscribed to Champions Online. Please, I've already given you my money for the game, you've already gotten a six month comitment in my subscription, can you make this arrangement atleast seem half-way respectable and not like a shady car-deal?

If I paid for a camaro, I want a camaro, not the Ford Pinto you just threw out there. You lured us into six-month and life-time subs with the gameplay pre-patch, then change it on us AFTER you have our money. If you don't have the decency to allow us to get a refund, then atleast offer us the game you presented to us.

Come on folks, it took Sony years to screw up Star Wars Galaxies by making SWEEPING and DRASTIC changes, you're doing this on DAY ONE of the release! What the hell, man! What the hell!....:breath:

The game was too easy.

They told you a pinto was a camaro, you said yippe and then they decided they felt bad and really gave you a camaro and you cried about it.

I love all the doom and glooming going on around here; it's day one, for god's sakes. At least give them a day or two to make adjustments to the last patch before you start declaring that the game is dead. Christ.

I mean, there's more uproar over this than there was over the lifetime subs ending; you really think they're just going to leave it as it is with so many people whining? Pfffffft.

Although, perhaps they won't change it, because for every whiner on here there's currently 100 other people actually playing the game. Don 't think that just because you're the loudest means what you say goes.

Unfortunately, it seems the squeaky wheel does indeed get the grease.

You know what? Stop taking every chance you get to send someone to WoW because they don't agree with you. If you're a fanboy, say you're a fanboy and leave it there. Just because someone feels that the devs have ruined this game right out of the gate with this stupid, overly harsh nerf doesn't give you the right to send them to WoW. It also doesn't mean they want an "easy" game. Honestly, I'm fed up with all the "if you want an easy game" remarks. Get a new line. You're boring me.

Actually the zone chat in-game suggests to me that there are just as many people on there complaining as out here.

I'm glad, though, that I'm supposed to rely on this chat to form teams and groups since I can't really solo anymore.

The Cryptic I remember is quite willing to make unpopular changes if they think it'll make for a better game. Especially it they think stuff is too-easy.

I have to say after playing on my toon pre and post patch, at first I got butt-hurt real bad.

That lasted for 10 minutes when I realized that combat had become more exciting. I had begun to feel that the game was a bit too easy and this went some way to address that. I have to say I was still surviving 4 to 1 fight 2 levels above me with a MA: Dual Blade build so I really didn't find my play style compromised at all. I adapted and I'm cool. I can see why some have been taken by surprise though.
