Default Anti Multiplayer MMO?

Has anyone noticed this? Grouping in general you almost need to hit every instance to get a Team going. Once the Team is formed its usually for a specific mission, no one really talks, mission is plowed through and everyone leaves without saying anything but "GG". I was just in a group where I was just ignored completely, no one said anything but "Good Job all!" when the mission ended and then everyone abruptly left. I thought it was pretty strange.

Is it possible to use the Crime Computer to find random Team type mission? I remember in CoH you could open the newspaper with your group and everyone could do the same mission with the dungeon scaled for your group. Does that exist on this game?

I once read a review saying this game was a "Single Player MMO". When I read that I thought it was funny but as of lately it does appear to be that way. Maybe its due to my level? Being only 14 I could see the lack of necessity right now to group up. I do sometimes enjoy the social aspect of gaming and I am really not seeing any social side at all. This is my opinion I'm not trying to troll, I just want to see if anyone else has any thoughts on this as it is starting to become apparent you play this game by yourself the majority of the time.

You can solo 99.9% of the content in this game. And there are no clear roles for players to fall into. This is a solo mmo.
Not like EQ or EQ2 where grouping and socializing are a requirement to get to level cap. This is another reason why WoW ruined MMOs.

Why play a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER to solo?

I agree. The game is fun don't get me wrong, but lacking alot of social things makes it feel empty. Maybe there was a reason meditate took like 10 minutes on EQ haha. Forced everyone to be social for awhile.

Its a touchy subject should you have the option to solo with any character or be forced to group with most? I once believed the latter - but I see what happens now.

Most quests are soloable, and should be. Group content boils down to lairs and open missions. As long as they add more of these, the game will be fine. I want to be able to solo some missions when I want to without having to look for a group. Then, when I feel like socializing, I can run some repeatable lairs or open missions and get decent xp and drops. It's a good balance that just needs some more fleshing out.

I've heard people saying that they don't want to be forced to team. Well, you aren't. We are soooooo far away from that it's funny to even make it a point. Right now we are forced to solo in order to enjoy the game. No open missions are team worthy, and the lairs which are team-able I can count on one hand and still have fingers left over.

WOW is WOW. Any attempt to recreate such a thing usually ends up in failure. There' s things that WOW does OK at, really nothing stellar compared to the games that have come before it and after it, so attempting to duplicate it with a new IP that few know isn't really a good idea.

This game needs teaming content ......badly. Right now I'm in hope and pray mode.

I like that I'm usually not forced to team...unless my concept toon is a couple levels under that of the Master Villian he will be fighting. I do team quite often tho, with friends and strangers.

The action is very fast paced, so talking can be a bit lacking. I usually try to break the ice and 90% of the time the team will began chatting. This is just me tho, there is definitly room for Team Play Improvements! Teams disband soon after they are created all too often, and its a one shot deal with teams. Bam! We did Fight Club, thanks guys!

They are working on things to improve this, such as adding assistance Exp for helping with quests and being able to see what quest a person is on helps too.

Yeah, I enjoy the fact that we aren't forced to team thru most of this, but when we want or need to team than the quality of play needs to be bumped up a bit. If it was slightly more user friendly it would improve teaming by volumes. I'm sure they will get us there eventually tho.

I love to solo. I hate it when I want to play a video game, but I can't, because:

A] There is nobody to play with. Maybe you're playing at 3 in the morning on a Wednesday.
B] The only available players are 'tarded, or maybe just don't speak my language.

I do love playing with other people, though, I just don't think you should force it on anyone. What CO needs needs NEEDS is more [optional] group content. Instances/missions/etc that force you to get with some buddies, and rewards you greatly for doing so, without actually forcing it on you. This is pretty much exactly what WoW does, and it was one of my favorite aspects of the game. It accommodates all types of players.

That is definitely CO's #1 flaw ATM in my book. Cryptic is really only catering to the solo-only crowd.

Multiplayer: Multiple people playing the same game at the same time.

Where in the definition does it say grouping is required? This is a huuuuuge pet peeve of mine.

Some games are heavy hardcore group/raid games.. thats fine. And others are casual small group/soloer games.. also fine. So tired of the word being abused if a game lacks group content. Dont get me wrong, more group content for those who like it I welcome it. As long as they leave the solo content the way it is.

You would LOVE Final Fantasy XI. You can't so much as stand a chance against anything but a single of the lowest xp granting mobs for your level while solo. And even when you do beat one you have around a minute or two of downtime. To do anything in that game its nothing but team team team. It drove me nuts.
