Beta testers are, apparently, being added in waves, not all at once. Lifetime and 6-month subscribers are going to get in (and some probably already are), but not all in one big batch. When your turn comes, you should get an email.

Yup they're being added a little at a time. But Lifetimers will get priority invites over people who just signed up on the website. Hopefully soon we'll both get in.

Actually that is not true.

Pre-Order 6 Mo and lifetimers are being given no special treatment. The only thing we have been assured of is that we will "get in" not when or if others will get in before us.

This means some, if not most of us will most likely get about 1, maybe 2 weeks of closed beta to test if their admissions to it are the same as most game companies. This "closed" beta will play more like an open beta before most of us get in... if at all.

You are confusing Closed Beta with Open Beta. Open Beta lasts anywhere from 1-5 weeks. Closed Beta lasts months and comes before Open Beta. I know people who were in CO's Closed Beta for over 6 months. Unless a release date has been officially given for STO there's no way of knowing how long you will be in CB. Could be months or weeks, but it's certainly not going to be 1-2 weeks.

He's not confusing anything unfortunately. Odds are that most of us "subscription" betas won't get into the beta until probably the last week or so, significantly after any real need for actual "closed" style beta testing is over. Basically, consider your purchased beta invite a "headstart weekend" to the open beta, if the CO beta is any indication of what STO's will be like. I'd be willing to bet that some 90% of the people that purchased beta slots with their subscription won't get an invite before the last week of closed beta.

Very unlikely. I already have 4 LTS friends in the STO CB. I happen to be the only one who didn't get in. That, though, in no way implies I won't get in for months. I could be invited next week. There's no way of knowing what Cryptic's plan is so it seems pointless to speculate based on frustration emotionality.

According to Cryptic when the lifetime and 6 month subscriptions were bought we were told we would get into STO closed beta later this year. Later this year means some time in November or early December 2009....NOT some time in 2010. I don't know where you all are getting your information or if you are just drawing if off other games but this is how it was stated. Now if we don't receive an invitation by end of 2009 then Cryptic has failed to honor their obligaions of commitment and their contract. I for one will wait and see how they handle this, before I do any more business with Cryptic.

you read it slightly wrong

the STO beta which starts later this year, not youll get into it later this year

but fact is, alot of lifers are already getting into it, its the few who didnt that are on here being extremely vocal, many more people are getting in weekly too

This is the first, most genuine response about this issue I have seen on the boards. Everyone else seems to think that "Guaranteed" meant as soon as tt starts.
