Default "Attack of the Misfit Toys" Official Feedback Thread

Now that "Attack of the Misfit Toys" is over we'd like to get some feedback on the event so we can plan for future events. We've been reviewing the feedback so far, but we'd like to consolidate it a bit more. In order to give the feedback thread some structure we'd like to break it down to:

TOP 3 LIKES
1)
2)

TOP 3 DISLIKES

GAMEPLAY FEATURES YOU'D LIKE TO SEE IN FUTURE EVENTS

Let's keep this thread constructive - stay on topic and keep the replies polite and concise. Daeke will be monitoring this thread.

Thanks!

________

1. Loot that was useful (i.e.- 20 slot bags!)
2. Unique Action Figure
3. Plenty of time to finish all the event perks

Dislikes
_________

1. If I'm going to get a crappy cookie for defeating Clarence, I should at least get a few of them.
2. No real event stuff going on in the other instances (i.e.-desert, monster island, etc)
3. Could have used more useful unique loot.

Top 3 likes:
Opening presents was fun.
Toy transformations were fun.
I liked Clarence's dialog.

Top 3 dislikes:
Chasing after the open mission. It was better than chasing Takofanes, but still not good.
Travel powers being detoggled every time I opened an evil present.
Clarence's knockback-happy attacks.

Features I'd like to see in future events:
Instanced missions for the scenario bosses.

TOP 3 LIKES
1)Costumes The new ones look great (though I wouldn't know because even though I killed Clarence over 300 times I never got one.)
2)Story concept was great
3)Giant open map boss fights are fun

TOP 3 DISLIKES
1)Not getting a costume after spending so many hours trying to is ridiculous, we should at least be able to trade them or buy them in AH....though at this point I would be happy to buy them in the C-store.
2)Action figures as a reward, are stupid. Action figures cater to very few players who think they are cool, but you should really have just added more costumes.
3)The lack of communication during the event, was awful, not knowing if we should spend hours and hours trying to get a costume drop, or would it be available in the C-store. People will still do the event, even if we have that information, you dont have to trick us.

GAMEPLAY FEATURES YOU'D LIKE TO SEE IN FUTURE EVENTS

I love giant open map monster fights, but it would be nice to have an instance too.
If you are going to offer costumes as a reward, have them be for a perk and not a random drop. that way even if we have to farm it over and over, at least at the end we will know for sure we will be getting the costumes.

A random drop means a lot of people went away unhappy.

Just as an FYI this goes for the Gladiator unity event too. I have done that event well over 100 times and still have not gotten the belt costume piece.

EDIT: a possible compromise to make action figures better, would be to make them animals. Not a lot of us care about the characters in game as they do not necessarily go with our won character ideas. But a bat or a cat following you around as a pet would be more interesting IMO.

1) Action figure parts were perfectly done. They encouraged trading/generosity/community because they were basically worthless once you had your full set, but other people could use them. Random dropping of them really encouraged trading to get the ones you needed, and our SG vault was typically full of them and I'm fairly sure everyone in the SG got their full set. Good drop rate, nice sorta silly reward, good deal.

2) A large amount of costume unlocks and AFs, which is what I expect from a holiday event.

3) The new tech that let everyone fight without SKing was a good idea, and I sure as hell hope is used in every special event ever from now on.

Top 3 Dislikes:
1) The Clarence fight itself is my number 1 dislike. I don't mean the farming (that'll be number 2), I mean the actual fight. It was terrible. It was stupid. It had elements of neat, but it was punishing rather than fun. If you were melee it was really damn frustrating, if you were ranged it was annoying. Blocking the incessant AoEs was hard as hell because (surprise surprise) a lot of people were there, so the framerate was terrible (at least for me). Almost all the animations for the 3 different AoEs, and the non-AoEs, were similar enough that it was hard to tell what was coming. And if you turned your attention to the misfit toys when they were summoned, chances were pretty good you'd miss the signs and Clarence would nail you with an AoE, which was usually enough to get you to 1/2 health, miss two and it was easy to die. Rather than playfully turning you into toys, or bouncing you around or something that would be fun, it was just a frustrating knockback-fest. Maybe ok for a "real" boss, that's supposed to be difficult and an accomplishment, but this was a holiday event. It should be nothing but fun.

2) The drops themselves on Clarence were terribly done. Firstly, the biff making Clarence BoE, which made the same 10 guys farm dozens of them to sell. While there were some great instances of this encouraging that Christmas spirit and giving them away (one of my SG-mates farmed like 20 of them, gave about half of them away to SG-mates and strangers), it also encouraged some of the most selfish behavior ever. Just look on the AH at the list of Clarence action figures for 400-1200g. People might have actually been able to get the costume parts if everyone'd just given up on it after getting their Clarence and costume unlocks, but they didn't.

3) The presents. Their mere existence. There's not too much fun about just hunting down clicky objects. How about instead you do nemesis-style ambushes by the toys, or just have all the mobs in the world get the present stuff added to the drop tables? The presents were just... pointless. Also, the misfit toys disabling travel powers? That was a real ***** move. Whoever did that to a holiday event should really feel ashamed. It was just annoying.

What I'd like in future events:
1) GIVE EXPERIENCE FOR EVERYTHING DEAR SWEET MOTHER OF LUCIFER. Seriously, it was the biggest thing that frustrated me in Blood Moon. I had to choose: Spend my time leveling my alt, or spend my time getting some of the perks/titles and participating. My main finished the whole event on the first day and got all the unlocks, but then there were all my SG mates who wanted to run the crypts. I would have loved to just run 'em on some of my lowbies, but... what was the point? All the events should give experience for all parts. Why? The simple reason is that it's the holiday (whatever holiday it is). The events should feel like a gift from you guys, not a chore.

2) Stop making things in events farmed, periodic, AND predictable. My computer's 2 years old, it's about the average (it's actually right at the reccomended specs) for players probably. Part of the reason both these events were so unpleasant for me is I couldn't actually see them. I was looking away most of the time so I got above 10 fps, because there were 50-60 people on every open mission. Instance them (the crypts were real nice in BM, though they needed work), make them unpredictable but not require multiple farmings to get what you want, something!

TOP 3 LIKES
1) Collecting Toy parts from presents.
2) Fighting Clarence.
3) Gaining perks for assembling toy parts via the Toy Master.

TOP 3 DISLIKES
1) The drop-rate for anything decent from Clarence was awful.
2) After a short period of time (a few days), collecting winter junk and toy parts became tedious.
3) The winter effects / graphics were un-impressive. A continuous stream of white flakes across the screen would be no match for layers of thick snow and Christmas lights lighting up Millennium City.

Overall the event WAS fun, but it lacked consistency and content. After you'd farmed the toy parts for the perks, you're left to either farm winter junk to hand in for rewards or fight Clarence over and over in the hope that you will eventually get SOMETHING from the drops. It also didn't feel very Christmassy, there were no decorations, lights, bright colours, anything. CoX had the right idea with the cool skii slop in Pocket D. Something like that would have made the event so much more fun AND it would have brought players together.

Sorry, I have no suggestions here.
I have participated in the Halloween and the X-mas events now, and I really enjoyed them both!

Thank you for all the holiday cheer.

Fun stuff easy to find. Like a power to shot snowball, or make noise like in party at 31 dec. Some event emote for fun.

couldn't participate much but overall :

TOP 3 LIKES
1) Graphic changes were quite good. Liked the snow in Millenium city
2) Clarence as a character
3) The perks weren't too hard or long to get.

TOP 3 DISLIKES
1) The event could have stayed a little longer
2) Fighting Clarence was anoying. First by the time you get at the place you usually missed half the fight, and he tended to one hit kill very easily. I prefer less damages dealing and more resistance.
3) I would have loved some PVP event to go alongside the present and toy hunt. snowball fight or something.

I liked it overall, but it was not perfect.

TOP 3 LIKES
1) The presents were pretty cool, I didn't really need to grind them, had I not traveled for Christmas I would easily have gotten the badge by just clicking random presents as I played. The cookies were nice free healing items, and building the toys was fun.
2) Clarence was really cool looking and the fight was fun and I liked the voiceovers/dialogue a lot
3) snow was a cool effect

TOP 3 DISLIKES
1) Clarences constant AOE knockbacks make it really rough on the melee's and hard to get full contribution
2)It was really hard to get good contribution on clarence fights at low levels. I may have been doing good damage/hitting him but I just didn't have access to all the stuff the higher level players had. I also believe the REAL best way to get good contribution was to massively AOE the little minions(not positive on that though).
3)The random items that do absolutely nothing are cool and fun, but their drop rate should have been a lot lower(or they may have been low individually but because there were so many they popped up a lot).

GAMEPLAY FEATURES YOU'D LIKE TO SEE IN FUTURE EVENTS

Some sort of series of quests that end in an event similar to the clarence battle(though toned down for one group) that would allow small groups of people to be able to get the awards. It was very tough to get contribution against clarence without purely farming him. The clarence channel was up on the first day of the event, and if you weren't part of it and actively waiting for clarence at the zone he would appear in next it was IMPOSSIBLE to get the toy guy you have to kill before clarence, and clarence would likely be about half dead by the time you got there(even if you were in the correct zone and immediatly left for the message). This makes it really hard for every Joe Shmo to really experience the content. I like the big zone wide events and think they should stay, but there should be another alternative also.
